The Plumbing Superintendent, under the direction of the Field Operations Manager, Senior Superintendent, or General Superintendent, manages plumbing scope and crew for mid-sized commercial projects. Works directly with the Project Manager and Field Supervisor for each job to ensure a profitable, compliant job. Must be able to communicate effectively with contractors and other trades, with the ability of quick troubleshooting, the ability to read and fully comprehend blueprints, place weekly to biweekly material orders, line out work assignments for the on-site plumbing team, prepare daily reports, daily JHA’s, and time sheets, and perform all the work on schedule and within budget. This position requires travel. Requirements Job Responsibilities (List is not inclusive) Plumbing Operations Responsible and is accountable for the timely completion of the project(s) and ensuring that the project(s) is constructed in strict accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and budgets Manages and facilitates all project phases from planning through final construction including manpower requirements, early project activities, and warranty with Operations Manager, Project Manager(s), and Superintendent Oversees, identifies, and manages self-perform performance by all employees, providing support and assistance as necessary including training Responsible and is accountable for the timely completion of the project and ensuring that the project is constructed in strict accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and budgets Provides direction and resolves problems between subcontractors, clients, and employees Identifies inefficient and deficient work and provides prompt and effective resolution Provides guidance in implementation for company quality control, quality assurance and that safety practices are being performed - documentation required (QC/QA/Safety) Confirms field reports, daily reports, as-built drawings, inspections, and punch list documentation is being performed and is current and up to date Communicates job requirement and job progress at weekly meeting with Operations Manager and Project Managers Responsible for minimizing and eliminating company risk by managing and maintaining the highest standards of practice May occasionally perform hands on work, where necessary Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to comprehend and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, memos, drawings, specifications, and other construction documents. Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group settings to General Contractors, labor subcontractors, and internal teams. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Vista, Bluebeam Revu, and internet-based research using both iPad and computer platforms. Extensive knowledge of commercial plumbing construction and installation practices, processes, and techniques. Thorough knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal building codes. Expert knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and the ability to uphold company safety program standards. Ability to independently manage a jobsite and crew of approximately 5–25 employees and projects ranging from $100K–$4M in scope. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate and proactively address conflicts, challenging field conditions, errors, and omissions in drawings and specifications. Ability to interact effectively with General Contractors and internal personnel at all levels of the organization. Ability to work independently while following established processes and maintaining safe, OSHA-compliant practices. Ability to operate aerial lifts, forklifts, backhoes/excavators, Bobcats, and other applicable construction equipment. Ability to provide and maintain all required hand tools. Ability to work safely on active construction sites, including climbing ladders, lifting up to 75 pounds, standing and walking for extended periods, working at heights, and working in varying outdoor weather conditions. Education and Experience Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in commercial plumbing construction. Demonstrated experience managing commercial plumbing jobsites and crews of approximately 5–25 people. Experience overseeing projects ranging from approximately $100K–$4M in scope. Georgia plumbing license required or ability to obtain within one year. CPR/First Aid certification required. Experience operating applicable construction equipment, including aerial lifts, forklifts, backhoes/excavators, and Bobcats. Physical Requirements Required to stand, walk, and sit. Talk or hear, both in person and by telephone. Use hand (s) and fingers to handle or feel objects or controls. Reach with hand (s) and arm (s).
