The salary range listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.Status: Full Time RegularShift: DAY SHIFTDepartment: PharmacyPosition SummarySummary:The Director of Pharmacy provides leadership and operational oversight for assigned pharmacy services and is responsible for translating organizational strategy into effective pharmacy operations. The Director leads implementation of enterprise initiatives and ensures operational performance, regulatory compliance, medication safety, financial stewardship, and effective management of assigned services.Responsibilities:Operations & Enterprise Implementation· Leads implementation of enterprise pharmacy initiatives within assigned areas, establishing operational plans, resources, timelines, and accountability.· Oversees pharmacy operations and establishes priorities and performance expectations across assigned services.· Ensures significant operational issues are appropriately addressed and escalated.· Leads implementation of major changes involving pharmacy services, workflows, and organizational initiatives.Regulatory, Quality & Risk· Leads pharmacy regulatory compliance and accreditation activities, including applicable TJC, NYSDOH, CMS, DEA, USP, and medication-management requirements.· Ensures continuous survey readiness and effective remediation of identified deficiencies.· Provides program oversight for controlled substances/diversion, sterile compounding, medication security, and other high-risk pharmacy processes.· Reviews significant medication safety events, audit findings, and quality trends and ensures appropriate corrective actions.· Oversees pharmacy policy and operational standard development.Financial & Resource Management· Develops and manages pharmacy operating budgets and monitors pharmaceutical expense, labor utilization, productivity, and financial performance.· Identifies opportunities for cost reduction and resource optimization.· Develops and evaluates business cases and capital requests.Technology & Performance· Leads implementation of major pharmacy automation, technology, and medication-use system initiatives.· Establishes operational, financial, quality, and medication-safety performance measures.· Uses performance data to identify areas requiring intervention or improvement.Workforce Leadership· Provides leadership and direction to pharmacy managers and other assigned leaders.· Oversees workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, and leadership development.· Partners with Human Resources and Labor Relations regarding employee relations and administration of applicable collective bargaining agreements.Supply Chain & Business Continuity· Provides pharmacy leadership for procurement strategy, inventory management, drug shortages, and supply resiliency in collaboration with system Supply Chain.· Ensures emergency preparedness, downtime, and business continuity plans are established for assigned services.Governance & Collaboration· Leads or participates in pharmacy and interdisciplinary governance committees and ensures approved decisions are operationalized.· Represents pharmacy with medical, nursing, quality, finance, IT, Supply Chain, facilities, and other organizational leaders.Professional Development· Supports pharmacy education, professional development, and residency programs.· Participates in resident and student precepting and mentorship.Education &Qualifications · Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or BS Pharmacy and active pharmacist license in good standing.· At least three years of Assistant / Associate Director-level pharmacy leadership experience or equivalent.· Advanced degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field (e.g., MHA, MBA) preferred.· Progressive pharmacy leadership experience with responsibility for complex operations or multiple service areas.· Demonstrated experience implementing large-scale enterprise and departmental initiatives.· Experience leading regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, quality, and medication-safety activities.· Experience implementing and optimizing pharmacy automation and medication-use technologies.· Proficiency in budgeting, financial management, data analysis, project management, and performance improvement.· Experience managing pharmacy leaders, workforce planning, and employee performance.· Experience collaborating with Labor Relations and administering collective bargaining agreements preferred.· Strong communication, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary leadership skills.License/Certifications• New York State Pharmacy License• New York State Pharmacy Registration CertificateWorking ConditionsOther information:Working Conditions• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worn• Able to handle multiple priorities under stress • Will require prolonged periods in front of computer terminalJob SummaryJob Type: FTEmployment Type: EMPLOYEELocation: Oceanside, NY, US
