CONTROLLER / CFO

A well-established, privately held $50M construction company is seeking a hands-on Controller/CFO to join its leadership team. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, this role will oversee the company's financial operations while serving as a strategic business partner focused on profitable growth, cash flow, project performance, and operational accountability .

The ideal candidate is a commercially minded financial leader who understands construction and can move comfortably between detailed accounting and strategic business decisions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
• Oversee job costing, WIP, percentage-of-completion accounting, and project profitability .
• Provide leadership with timely, actionable financial reporting and KPIs.
• Develop cash-flow forecasts and improve working-capital management.
• Partner with project managers to identify margin issues, cost overruns, and project risks.
• Manage banking, CPA, insurance, and surety/bonding relationships.
• Lead and develop the accounting/finance team.
• Strengthen financial controls, systems, and processes.
• Support strategic decisions involving growth, capital expenditures, staffing, and investments.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• 8+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience.
• Controller, CFO, or senior accounting leadership experience.
• Construction or other project-based business experience required.
• Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Demonstrated expertise in cash flow, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Hands-on, analytical, proactive, and highly accountable.
• Strong communicator and business partner.
• CPA, CMA, or MBA is a plus, but not required.
