Special Education Resource Teachers

JOB SUMMARY: The teacher is responsible to the Building Principal for planning instructional lessons that meet the needs, interests and abilities of students; creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and employing effective instructional techniques. Performance responsibilities: Create a classroom environment that is conducive to the learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students as needed; implement CHAMPS classroom management systems for behavior and procedures, and maintain order in a fair and consistent manner; prepare for students assigned, provide adaptations as necessary and show written evidence of preparation upon request; strive to implement instruction and action the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives; assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide necessary communication with parents on an as needed basis; work cooperatively and collaboratively with other school personnel in the identification, diagnosis, and remediation of individual students with special needs; take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities; maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation; assist administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct; strive to maintain and improve professional competence by attending conferences, workshops, and/or coursework; attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees; demonstrate employee responsibilities in completing duties accurately and promptly; perform such other duties as may be assigned by the building principal; work collaboratively in the classroom with supportive service personnel when it applies; and implement current curriculum provided by school district with fidelity. WORKING CONDITIONS : The work year for this position is 180 days. Salary is in accordance with the teacher salary schedule in the collective bargaining agreement.
