Senior Workflow Automation Engineer

Hybrid: Monday–Thursday Onsite | Friday Remote

Our client, a global investment management firm, is seeking a senior Workflow Automation Engineer to help design, build, and scale its enterprise process automation environment.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role for someone who understands how businesses operate and can transform manual, spreadsheet-based, and email-driven processes into structured, scalable applications.

You do not need to come from investment management. We are interested in experienced workflow automation professionals from complex enterprise environments, consulting organizations, technology companies, and businesses undergoing significant growth, integration, or transformation.

What You’ll Do

• Partner directly with business stakeholders to understand operational challenges and workflow requirements
• Design, build, test, and support enterprise workflow and case-management applications
• Convert manual processes, spreadsheets, emails, and disconnected systems into scalable automated solutions
• Build approval workflows, intake applications, notifications, escalations, SLA monitoring, and operational dashboards
• Develop integrations with enterprise applications, databases, APIs, and document-management systems
• Create reusable components, development standards, and governance practices
• Troubleshoot and enhance existing workflow applications
• Evaluate the appropriate automation approach and platform for different business needs
• Help shape the organization’s longer-term workflow automation strategy

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of enterprise application development, workflow engineering, business process management, or automation experience
• Strong hands-on experience with at least one enterprise workflow or BPM platform
• Experience may include Appian, Pega, IBM BAW/BPM, Camunda, ServiceNow, Microsoft Power Platform, OutSystems, or a comparable platform
• Experience designing process models, user interfaces, business rules, records or data objects, integrations, and reports
• Experience working directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Strong understanding of workflow design, case management, data modeling, APIs, application security, and system integration
• Ability to independently learn new platforms and apply existing workflow-development principles
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work onsite in Midtown Manhattan Monday through Thursday

Strongly Preferred

• Hands-on Appian development experience
• Appian, Pega, IBM BPM, Camunda, ServiceNow, or Microsoft Power Platform certification
• Experience automating workflows across areas such as operations, finance, legal, tax, compliance, risk, human resources, or corporate services
• Experience in financial services, investment management, professional services, enterprise consulting, or another complex regulated environment
• SQL, REST/SOAP API, and enterprise integration experience
• Experience with document management, intelligent document processing, RPA, or AI-enabled workflow tools
• Experience supporting enterprise transformation, systems consolidation, or post-merger integration

The Opportunity

This role offers significant ownership and direct interaction with business leaders. You will help identify automation opportunities, determine how workflows should operate, and build solutions that improve how the organization works.

The organization currently uses Appian, so prior Appian experience is valuable. However, accomplished workflow automation professionals with experience on comparable enterprise platforms will also be considered.

Location and Schedule

This position is based in Midtown Manhattan .

• Monday–Thursday onsite
• Friday remote
• Regular working hours: 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. ET
• Candidates relocating to the New York area must be available for the onsite schedule from their first day

Compensation: $135,000–$155,000 base salary, plus bonus and benefits.
