Quality Inspector Electrical Cable & Wire Harnes

The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing in-process, final, and receiving inspections of electrical cable and wire harness assemblies to ensure full compliance with customer specifications, engineering requirements, and industry standards. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards, and the ability to independently evaluate product quality in a high-reliability manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has extensive hands‑on experience in cable and wire harness inspection and is confident in identifying defects, documenting findings, and ensuring product conformance. Key Responsibilities Inspection Activities Perform in-process, final, and receiving inspections of wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and subassemblies. Evaluate products for workmanship quality, configuration accuracy, continuity, labeling, solder/crimp quality, torque, routing, and mechanical integrity. Interpret and apply engineering drawings, specifications, travelers, and inspection checklists. Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) and verify new builds or engineering revisions. Documentation & Reporting Accurately complete inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs). Ensure compliance with IPC/WHMA-A-620 ClassII and/or ClassIII standards, as applicable. Clearly document inspection results and communicate findings to production, engineering, and quality teams. Tools & Equipment Operate and maintain inspection and measurement tools, including: Calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, magnifiers, and torque tools Continuity testers, multimeters, pull-force testers, and inspection microscopes Cirris testing equipment or equivalent systems Compliance & Standards Ensure adherence to IPC/WHMA-A-620, J-STD-001 (if applicable), customer requirements, and internal quality standards. Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes for nonconformances. Assist in internal audits and customer source inspections as needed. Cross-Functional Support Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve documentation gaps and build issues. Provide feedback to assemblers on workmanship standards and defect prevention techniques. Support continuous improvement initiatives within the quality system. Required Qualifications 3–5+ years of quality inspection experience in wire and cable harness manufacturing. Current IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certified Specialist (CS) certification required. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and assembly drawings. Strong proficiency with inspection tools and testing methods used in cable assembly environments. Solid understanding of connectors, terminations, cable types, and manufacturing processes. Preferred Qualifications J-STD-001 certification (especially for soldered assemblies). Experience working within AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality management systems. Background in aerospace, defense, or medical device manufacturing. Familiarity with ERP systems, electronic travelers, or digital work instruction platforms. Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing detailed inspections. Excellent visual acuity (corrective lenses acceptable). Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for precision inspection work. #J-18808-Ljbffr
