DevOps ArchitectWe are seeking a proven DevOps Architect who is located in the San Francisco Bay Area for a highly visible, multi-year engagement.Key Expectations (Responsibilities and Duties): The DevOps Architect will be a key driver in advancing our DevOps practices and ensuring the highest level of efficiency, security, and scalability in our software delivery pipeline. Your responsibilities will encompass:Kubernetes Mastery (Must): Lead the Kubernetes initiatives, designing and implementing advanced deployment strategies, including canary releases, blue-green deployments, and rolling updates.Optimize Kubernetes clusters for performance, cost-efficiency, and high availability, incorporating advanced features like Helm charts and custom controllers.Unix Scripting Expertise (Must): Develop and maintain sophisticated Unix shell scripts for automation, orchestration, and system management, focusing on security and scalability.Implement advanced logging and error-handling mechanisms in scripts to ensure robustness.Python Development at Scale (Good to have): Harness the strong Python experience to build advanced automation tools, leveraging Python libraries and frameworks for efficient and maintainable code.Implement infrastructure orchestration using Python and integration with RESTful APIs for advanced automation tasks.Provide APIs or data in an automated way for our reporting teams to build operational excellence reportsInfrastructure as Code (IaC) Prowess (Nice to have): Lead the adoption of IaC principles across the organization, implementing complex infrastructure definitions using Terraform and ensuring versioning and reusability.Collaborate with development teams to design infrastructure templates that enable rapid application deployment and scaling.Advanced Monitoring and Observability (Good to have): Implement advanced monitoring and observability solutions, leveraging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and custom-built dashboards for real-time performance analysis.Develop automated alerting systems and anomaly detection mechanisms to address issues proactively.Experience and Qualifications: To excel in this role, the candidate should possess the following qualifications and advanced experience:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.Proven track record of advanced hands-on experience with TeamCity, Kubernetes, Unix scripting, and Python in a complex, large-scale environment.Extensive experience in architecting and optimizing CI/CD pipelines for performance and reliability.Deep expertise in Kubernetes, including cluster optimization, security, and advanced deployment strategies.Mastery of Unix shell scripting, with a history of creating complex, scalable automation solutions.Advanced Python programming skills for developing robust, maintainable scripts and automation tools.Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices and tools like Terraform.Experience implementing advanced monitoring, logging, and observability solutions.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead complex projects.Preferred Qualifications (Optional):Kubernetes certification (e.g., CKA, CKAD, CKS) or equivalent.In-depth knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and container orchestration frameworks other than Kubernetes (e.g., Docker Swarm, Nomad).Familiarity with Microservices architecture and service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).Experience with advanced CI/CD tools and practices like TeamCity, Jenkins Pipeline DSL, and GitOps.
