Registered Nurse (RN) - PICU

Position Information:

Role: Registered Nurse
Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
Number of Openings: 1
Shift: Days, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM
Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Weekend Hours: As required by the facility
Call Requirements: None
Required Licensure: Current RN License in the state of Missouri or eligibility for licensure in Missouri
Required Certifications: BLS, PALS from AHA only; TNCC
Years of Experience: 2 years in PICU, Ventilator competent
Float Requirements: May work in NICU, PICU, Pediatric medical floor, or Pediatric Emergency Department based on patient volumes

Unit Information:

Number of Beds: 12
Patient Ratios: ICU status 2:1, Intubated patients 1:1, Pediatric status 3:1
Equipment: Not specified
EMR: EPIC

Hiring Profile:

Must Have Skills/Experience: 2 years of PICU experience, ventilator competent, at least 1 year post-orientation experience
Type of Patients on Unit: Trauma, Burn, Neurosurgery, Pediatric surgery, Respiratory, Sepsis, Endocrinology, Chronic/trach, Hematology/Oncology, Orthopedics
Personality Fit: Seeking someone with experience who is flexible and a team player

Additional Information:

Night shift staff will orient on day shift and must be available for the entire week.
Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care, maintains professional accountability for provisions of patient care, and evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other caregivers.
Coordinates patient care with other departments to optimize patient comfort and safety.
Functions within nursing practice guidelines, including Missouri Nurse Practice Act and organizational standards.
Demonstrated skill in communication and human relations is required along with clinical expertise in the area of responsibility.
Physical Requirements: Able to stand and walk for most of the shift, and lift or push patients, with the physical demands including the ability to push, pull, and grip weights up to 50 lbs.
