Pulmonary Program Coordinator (Respiratory Therapist)

Our skilled nursing facility, located in Galt, CA, aims to develop a program that caters to residents’ pulmonary and cardiac needs as well as general comorbidities, strengthening bodies debilitated by the pandemic. Policies and processes have been created to proactively improve the lives we serve. The ideal candidate is a Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist, licensed in California, with a love of servant leadership. The RT works alongside the Director of Nursing and Infection Preventionist to execute treatments and interventions necessary to create an atmosphere of health and well‑being and to establish tangible goals and track progress. Schedule: Monday through Friday Main Responsibilities Oversee and maintain all necessary assessments, evaluations, and complete a daily audit to ensure therapy and documentation are completed for each resident in the pulmonary program. Complete daily, weekly, and monthly logs and submit to the Nursing Home Administrator and resources. Maintain knowledge of all aspects within the therapist’s scope and licensure in a long‑term care facility. Administer respiratory therapy treatments and interventions, understanding their purpose and possible side effects. Assess patient pain that interferes with optimal function or rehabilitation participation and make appropriate nursing contact for intervention. Follow departmental equipment sterilization procedures and maintain effective infection control. Document all pertinent data in the patient’s medical record after completing the pulmonary program. Demonstrate knowledge of techniques and treatment modalities for residents of varying acuity, age, and life stage. Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly; inspect and test equipment to ensure safety and efficiency. Maintain thorough knowledge of oxygen therapy hazards. Formulate the care plan based on identified learning needs and evaluate effectiveness, including the patient’s family in teaching as appropriate. Treat patients and families with respect and dignity; coordinate and direct care to meet needs and follow physician orders and policy. Assess patient need, tolerance, and response to treatment with reassessment for response. Handle pressure, deadlines, accuracy, and changing situations. Handle diverse people, stressful situations, and conflict. Attend and conduct education in‑service programs to maintain professional competency. Perform additional duties assigned by the department manager. Manage the shift’s daily operation, including assignments, troubleshooting, emergency response, and liaison with nurses, the Director of Nursing, Administrator, and physicians. Remain proficient in pulmonary function tests and bronchoscopies. Professional Requirements Represent the organization positively and professionally. Qualifications Current State Respiratory Therapist licensure. Graduate of an AMA‑approved School of Respiratory Therapy. Possess and maintain an active RRT credential.
