The Senior Consulting Technologist will be responsible for offering expert advice and guidance on transfusion services, addressing both technical and regulatory matters for laboratories within a specified region. This role involves collaboration with enterprise laboratory committees and established clients to implement standardized process improvements. The individual will assist laboratory management in preparing for inspections related to various accreditations, including those from the College of American Pathologists (CAP), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), COLA, AABB, and the Joint Commission, among others.

A comprehensive understanding of general laboratory operations, healthcare management, and operational principles is essential. Building and nurturing relationships to maintain a robust client base is crucial. The ideal candidate will exhibit patience, kindness, and a collaborative spirit with both clients and colleagues. Travel to various laboratory sites may be required based on facility needs and leadership discretion. This role may also involve acting in capacities such as Qualified Laboratory Director, Technical Supervisor, and Technical Consultant as necessary, and the candidate must meet the qualifications to perform duties assigned by the CLIA Laboratory Director.

This position is based in Marshfield, WI, and will support laboratories within the Sanford Health-M Marshfield Region. Responsibilities include ensuring methods and instrument performance, overseeing quality control and result reporting, resolving issues, evaluating new methods and instruments, conducting research and development, planning and implementing quality control statistics, and providing technical education to staff, along with other duties related to Transfusion Services.

Preferred: Certification as a Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

Travel may vary based on departmental needs.

• A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field is mandatory.
• Preferred experience includes five years in a laboratory setting within a hospital or clinic, with at least three years in a leadership or consulting role.
• Registration as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by the American Society of Laboratory Science through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency is required. For those working in North Dakota, licensure by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice is necessary.
