The Arc of Greater Prince William / INSIGHT, Inc. is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and energetic Day Support Counselor to join our VOSAC team in Triangle, Virginia.

The Day Support Counselor provides direct support, supervision, and instruction to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) participating in our Day Support and Vocational Programs. This position helps individuals develop daily living, vocational, social, communication, and community integration skills while promoting independence, dignity, choice, and inclusion .

What You'll Do

• Provide direct care, support, and supervision to individuals participating in Day Support and Vocational services.
• Implement Individual Support Plans (ISPs), behavior support plans, risk management plans, and other individualized service plans.
• Help individuals work toward personal goals related to independence, vocational readiness, community inclusion, and skill development.
• Support the development of communication, socialization, self-help, daily living, and employment-related skills.
• Assist individuals with personal care, mobility, feeding, toileting, and hygiene as outlined in their service plans.
• Maintain continuous supervision and ensure the health, safety, dignity, and well-being of individuals.
• Help plan and facilitate educational, recreational, vocational, and community-based activities.
• Support individuals during volunteer opportunities, community outings, recreational activities, and vocational experiences.
• Complete service documentation, progress notes, attendance records, incident reports, transportation logs, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
• Safely transport individuals to and from program activities, volunteer sites, appointments, and community activities when assigned.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming program environment.
• Work collaboratively with individuals, families, guardians, coworkers, volunteers, community partners, and other professionals.
• Attend required meetings and training and maintain required certifications.

The position combines center-based programming with community and vocational activities, so candidates should be comfortable working in a variety of environments and providing hands-on support when needed.

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities is preferred.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record that meets organizational insurance requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification.
• Ability to complete required behavioral management and organizational training.
• Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment background checks, drug screening, and reference checks.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, professionalism, dependability, and a commitment to person-centered services.
• Ability to remain calm and use sound judgment during emergencies or challenging situations.
• Basic computer skills, including email and electronic documentation systems.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on position. Employees must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, bend, stoop, kneel and reach; lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds ; assist individuals with mobility and transfers; safely operate organizational vehicles; participate in indoor and outdoor activities; and respond quickly during behavioral or medical emergencies.

Monday-Friday | 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Starting Pay: $17.00/hour
Work Location: VOSAC - Triangle, VA
