Position Summary

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Oncology – Melanoma and GI Tumors, is responsible for engaging in peer-to-peer scientific dialogue with Regional Thought Leaders (RTLs), National Thought Leaders, and Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) within an assigned geography. This role translates scientific data into clinical insights to support patient care and ensure the safe and effective use of Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) therapies.

The MSL serves as a clinical and scientific advisor to cross-functional partners, provides field-based medical insights, and supports pre- and peri-launch activities aligned to the medical strategy. This is a field-based role requiring significant external engagement with investigators, healthcare professionals, and thought leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Medical Engagement

• Develop and maintain trusted relationships with academic and community Thought Leaders through high-quality scientific exchange
• Engage in proactive and reactive scientific dialogue to inform medical strategy and support product lifecycle management
• Deliver educational presentations and scientific updates in both individual and group settings (in-person and virtual)
• Collaborate with medical societies, patient advocacy groups (PAGs), and guideline committees
• Provide training and support for external speakers as needed
• Support payer engagement alongside cross-functional partners during pre- and peri-launch phases
• Address unsolicited medical inquiries, including off-label questions, through in-person and virtual “Medical on Call” engagements
• Utilize digital tools and platforms to enhance engagement and effectiveness
• Capture and document field insights and achieve defined annual goals

Clinical Trial Engagement

• Provide insights to clinical development teams on study and site feasibility based on field expertise
• Maintain relationships with investigators and support clinical trial awareness and participation
• Identify and assess potential research sites to support interventional and non-interventional studies
• Support investigator-sponsored research (ISR) processes and follow-up activities
• Lead and support clinical evidence communications, including major data readouts (e.g., Phase 3 results)
• Ensure compliance with pharmacovigilance requirements, including reporting of adverse events
• Collaborate with Global Development Operations (GDO) and home office medical teams

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Serve as a scientific expert and advisor to internal stakeholders
• Partner across matrix teams (e.g., Medical, HEOR, Commercial) to align on strategy
• Support equitable access to clinical trials across healthcare systems
• Represent BMS with integrity and compliance in all external interactions

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Advanced scientific or clinical degree (MD, PharmD, PhD, NP, PA, or equivalent)
• Demonstrated experience in a scientific, clinical, or research environment
• Strong experience in oncology required (GI preferred)
• Field medical experience preferred
• Deep understanding of Thought Leader engagement and healthcare landscape
• Knowledge of:
  • Clinical trial design and execution
  • Scientific publications and data interpretation
  • Pharmaceutical compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Healthcare systems and patient access dynamics

Travel Requirements

• Significant field presence required; majority of time spent engaging with external stakeholders
• Must meet requirements to operate a company-provided vehicle, including:

  • Acceptable driving record

Work Environment / Role Classification

This is a field-based role , requiring travel for engagement with healthcare professionals and stakeholders. Attendance at meetings and business activities is an essential function.

Compensation Overview:

Field - United States - US: $168,220 - $203,837

The starting pay range(s) listed above is for full-time employees (FTE). You may also be eligible for additional discretionary incentive cash and stock opportunities. We determine starting pay thoughtfully – carefully considering the nature of the role, required skills, work location, schedule and the knowledge and experience you bring. Final compensation is guided by pay equity principles and applicable employment laws. Compensation programs are reviewed on an ongoing basis and may be adjusted over time to reflect evolving market factors, and individual, team or Company performance.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, you may be eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefit plans – including wellbeing support, retirement and financial protection benefits, and insurance offerings (medical, dental, vision, life and disability).

U.S.-based exempt employees are eligible for Flexible Time Off (FTO), which provides paid time off without a set accrual limit, subject to manager approval, along with 11 paid company holidays each year.

Non-exempt employees, RayzeBio employees, and employees located in Puerto Rico receive 160 hours of paid vacation annually for new hires (subject to manager approval), 11 paid company holidays, and 3 optional holidays.

Depending on eligibility, employees may also have access to additional time-off benefits, including paid sick leave, up to two paid volunteer days per year, summer hours flexibility, and leaves of absence for medical, personal, parental, caregiver, bereavement, or military needs.
