Senior Scientist - Downstream Development We're building the next generation of endotoxin detection technology. Our platform combines novel biology, enzyme-based detection and analytical science to develop highly sensitive diagnostic reagents capable of detecting trace levels of contamination with exceptional precision. We're looking for an experienced d Senior Scientist – Downstream Development to lead the development of our downstream processing capabilities. This role will own the journey from harvested biological material through purification, stabilization, analytical characterization and assay optimization, transforming upstream output into a robust, reproducible and commercially scalable product. What You'll Own Downstream Process Development Design, develop and optimize purification workflows for biological lysates Develop strategies for enzyme stabilization, formulation and storage Improve process robustness, reproducibility and scalability Analytical & Assay Development Develop and optimize enzyme-based analytical assays Characterize enzyme activity, stability and performance Design experiments to improve assay sensitivity, specificity and robustness Troubleshoot analytical challenges and identify process improvements Scientific Leadership Lead a growing downstream function by: Mentoring and developing junior scientists Setting scientific priorities Designing experimental strategy Driving high-quality execution across multiple projects Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with upstream scientists to understand how cell culture conditions influence downstream performance. Work alongside quality, regulatory and scientific leadership to ensure all downstream processes are robust, reproducible and ready for future validation and commercial validation. Quality Develop SOPs and downstream workflows Ensure experiments are well designed and reproducible Maintain GLP/GMP‑aligned documentation Support future regulatory submissions and product validation What Success Looks Like Within your first 6–12 months you will have: Built robust purification workflows Improved enzyme recovery and stability Developed reliable analytical assays Reduced variability between upstream and downstream processes Built a downstream capability capable of supporting commercial scale What We're Looking For You'll likely bring experience in several of the following: Protein or enzyme purification Downstream bioprocess characterization Assay development and optimization Analytical method development Biochemistry or molecular biology Biologics, diagnostics or reagent development Scientific leadership within an R&D environment You should also have experience in: Designing experiments rather than simply executing protocols Interpreting complex scientific data Mentoring scientists or leading technical teams Highly Desirable Experience Experience with one or more of the following would be a significant advantage: Enzyme kinetics and formulation Lysozyme purification Chromogenic enzyme assays Endotoxin or β‑glucan detection ELISA, qPCR or other analytical platforms Diagnostic reagent technologies Diagnostic companies You'll Probably Love This Role If You naturally improve every process or scientific problem.
