Behind every well‑run court is a team that keeps cases moving, records accurate, and court proceedings organized. As the Court Administrator, you’ll oversee the daily operations of the Durango Municipal Court, supervise a small team, and coordinate the people, processes, and information that keep the court running smoothly . You’ll work closely with judges, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, city departments, and community members. This role combines strong organization with thoughtful customer service and clear communication. You’ll help create a professional and respectful experience for everyone who interacts with the court while supporting your team and contributing to efficient court operations. The starting pay for this position is between $54,904 and $60,394 per year, with opportunities for growth up to $76,865 per year based on long‑term growth and performance within the role. What You’ll Do in This Role Manage, train, and support a small team of court clerks, including handling hiring and performance evaluations Oversee the daily flow of court cases by processing citations, filing legal documents electronically, and keeping accurate records Coordinate court calendars and schedules, ensuring all internal staff and external partners are updated on changes Serve as the main point of contact for internal and external partners, including the local jail, public defenders, police, and the City Attorney's Office Prepare the courtroom, record proceedings, and guide both in‑custody and out‑of‑custody defendants through the process in person or via video Manage court records and handle public information requests in accordance with Colorado open records laws Maintain sensitive legal documents and handle entries, lookups, and cancellations of warrants in national and state crime databases while following strict security and certification guidelines Handle financial operations for the court, including budget preparation, fee and restitution collection, payment plans, and bond account management Prepare and maintain required statistical reports and assist with state and national background check audits Coordinate necessary accommodations, such as interpreter services, to ensure equal access for all court participants Support special programs once a month by partnering with the Problem‑Solving Court Liaison on scheduling and administrative tasks Troubleshoot court software issues with vendors and provide backup support or cross‑training for the City Clerk's Office when needed You Have An associate degree in paralegal studies, business administration, public administration, or a related field, along with three years of administrative legal support or court operations experience Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the skills needed to perform the role successfully You Will Succeed in This Role If You Bring empathy and clear communication to every interaction, helping people feel respected and heard during what can be a stressful time Enjoy supporting and coaching a small team, helping colleagues collaborate well and succeed in their role Notice the details and stay highly organized while managing court schedules, databases, and financial tasks Stay adaptable when schedules or technology change, using quick problem‑solving to keep daily court operations moving smoothly What We Can Offer You Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance Ample personal time off (PTO) and 11 paid holidays 401(a) retirement plan and optional deferred compensation plan Basic life insurance and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) coverage Long‑term disability coverage Paid Family and Medical Leave (FMLA) Access to Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Free access to the Durango Community Recreation Center and Chapman Hill Ice Rink & Ski Area Holistic Employee Wellness Program, addressing physical, mental, financial, and professional well‑being Free transit pass and family member discounts Reimbursement for job‑related classes to foster continuous learning Sixteen hours of volunteer time off per year to support local non‑profit organizations #J-18808-Ljbffr
