Engineer

Akkodis is seeking an Engineer for a Contract with a client in Minneapolis, MN. The ideal candidate will be responsible for provisioning, configuring, and onboarding edge devices, while deploying and monitoring containerized applications and executing OTA updates across distributed edge environments.


Rate Range: $53/Hour to $60/Hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.


Engineer Job Responsibilities include:

• Provision, configure, and onboard Linux-based edge devices into BalenaCloud fleets, ensuring secure and reliable device connectivity.
• Deploy, manage, and monitor containerized applications using Docker and Docker Compose across distributed edge environments.
• Execute OTA (Over-the-Air) software and firmware updates while minimizing downtime and operational disruption.
• Manage device lifecycle activities including registration, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, remote diagnostics, and decommissioning.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins to automate application deployment and updates.
• Develop automation scripts and monitoring solutions using Python and Bash, while integrating APIs to improve fleet management and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Electronics, or a related engineering discipline.
• 4-6 years of experience in Linux administration, edge device management, and containerized application deployments.
• Hands-on experience managing Linux-based edge device fleets using BalenaCloud, Docker/Docker Compose, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and automation tools such as Python and Bash.
• Strong expertise in provisioning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining distributed edge devices, including OTA updates, remote diagnostics, network configuration, and API integrations.

Pay Details: $53.00 to $60.00 per hour
