Job Details Nurse Practitioner – Gastroenterology Full-Time | 1.0 FTE | Day Shift | Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Location: CHPP Ambulatory Care Lake Success Address: 4 Ohio Drive, Suite 200, Lake Success, NY 11042 Department: Gastroenterology Job Type: Full-Time Position Summary CHPP Ambulatory Care Lake Success is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Gastroenterology practice. This is a full-time, primarily outpatient position supporting a high-volume Gastroenterology physician and helping expand access to high-quality specialty care. The NP will work closely with Dr. Christine Yu and the multidisciplinary practice team to provide comprehensive patient care, clinical triage, patient communication, and provider support. This role offers an opportunity to increase patient access, improve continuity of care, and allow the physician to focus on complex cases and procedures. The position is primarily outpatient, with the potential for inpatient responsibilities and hospital rounding in the future based on practice needs. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive clinical care to Gastroenterology patients in the outpatient setting. Conduct patient assessments, follow-up visits, and appropriate management of Gastroenterology conditions. Perform clinical triage and determine appropriate follow-up, testing, treatment, or escalation of care. Communicate with patients regarding clinical concerns, test results, treatment plans, and follow-up needs. Provide clinical and administrative support to the collaborating Gastroenterologist. Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and other members of the healthcare team. Promote continuity of care and timely access to Gastroenterology services. Support practice efficiency and patient throughput in a high-volume clinical environment. Participate in hospital-based care or rounding in the future, as practice needs evolve. Clinical Practice The Nurse Practitioner will primarily provide outpatient Gastroenterology care and will work with an established physician and clinical support team. The role is expected to provide full-time clinical coverage and appropriate autonomy consistent with the NP's training, experience, and applicable organizational policies. The NP will have the opportunity to support the management of routine and follow-up Gastroenterology patients, while collaborating closely with the physician for complex clinical cases and treatment decisions. Required Qualifications Current Nurse Practitioner licensure in New York State. Graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. National board certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the applicable specialty. Current BLS certification. Current ACLS certification. DEA registration/certification. Previous Gastroenterology experience is required. Strong clinical assessment, communication, and patient-management skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Preferred Experience Demonstrated experience practicing as a Nurse Practitioner in Gastroenterology. Experience managing outpatient Gastroenterology patients in a high-volume clinical setting. Strong clinical triage and care-coordination skills. Ability to work effectively with physicians and other members of the clinical team. New graduates will not be considered for this position.
