Equipment Operator Journey 2

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Anchorage International Airport, is looking for a Equipment Operator Journey 2 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

What you will be doing:

Under general supervision, professionally operate all heavy equipment associated with the construction and maintenance of the Anchorage International Airport (ANC). Examples of equipment include, but are not limited to, motor graders, loaders, dump trucks, airport snow removal machines, roller compactors, sand spreaders, backhoes, and tractor-trailer combinations.

The candidate will operate equipment on the airfield and airport property. The incumbent must be able to operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner in a dynamic environment that is rapidly changing during snow/ice events. They must also be able to communicate clearly on company and air to ground radios. Daily duties include removing snow from the airfield surfaces, parking lots, roadways, and sidewalks. Other duties are cleaning of equipment, emergency concrete and asphalt repair, brush and tree removal, and many other labor-intensive jobs.

As a part of the Airfield Maintenance (AFM) crew the candidate will operate and maintain these airports and roadways in all conditions. Whether plowing snow in near "white-out" conditions to prepare the airport for normal aircraft operations; maintaining roadways safely for the traveling public; repairing asphalt on paved surfaces; conducting security inspections on the airport; maintaining airport lighting systems; clearing rights-of-way and airport safety areas of vegetation overgrowth; or training for any emergency that may occur, these are just a few of the situations you can find us in while making the difficult seem routine day after day. We truly keep Alaska moving!

Our organization, mission, and culture:

The mission at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport is to spearhead the development, operation, and maintenance of the airport, serving Anchorage, Alaska, and the global community. Anchorage International Airport proudly holds the title of the largest airport in Alaska and ranks as the fourth busiest cargo airport worldwide. With a workforce of 110 staff members, our Airfield Maintenance Station collaborates harmoniously to uphold regulatory certifications and compliance standards for this pivotal FAR Part 139 and TSA 1542 designated airport, encompassing even the world's busiest seaplane base.
