Job Description:

The **Truss Assembler II** is an intermediate-level production role responsible for the efficient setup and assembly of standard structural roof and floor trusses. Operating in a traditional, mechanical plant environment, this position utilizes pneumatic jigging tables, mechanized roller presses, and manual material handling equipment. Working under the general guidance of a Truss Assembler III, the Tier II Builder independently handles standard truss configurations and assists with complex setups. This individual possesses reliable mechanical aptitude, strong spatial awareness, and solid blueprint reading skills, ensuring all components are built safely and to exact engineering tolerances.

Key Responsibilities
• Standard Setup & Jigging: Interpret standard shop drawings to position physical pucks, stops, and mechanical hardware on jigging tables for common truss profiles.
• Component Assembly: Select, verify, and fit pre-cut lumber components into the established jig pattern, maintaining flush joints and tight tolerances.
• Plate Placement: Manually select and position the correct sizes and gauges of metal connector plates on wood joints according to engineering drawings.
• Equipment Operation: Safely operate standard plant equipment, including pneumatic nail/staple guns, overhead gantry presses, and mechanized roll-off lines.
• Line Cooperation & Pace: Work collaboratively within an assembly crew, maintaining a steady production pace to meet the plant's daily output targets.
• Quality Control: Measure and inspect personal work using tape measures to verify overall span, pitch, heel heights, and proper plate placement before pressing.
• Peer Support: Assist in onboarding entry-level Truss Builder I team members by demonstrating safe tool handling and efficient material placement. Qualifications & Skills
• Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of structural truss assembly or structural wood framing experience in a production environment.
• Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret standard multi-angle shop drawings, manufacturing layout sheets, and basic digital schematics.
• Tool Proficiency: Confident operation of pneumatic nail guns, industrial staplers, tape measures, hammers, and manual pressing tools.
• Mathematical Skill: Solid basic math competency, including the ability to read a tape measure accurately down to 1/16th of an inch.
• Teamwork: Strong communication skills and a proven ability to work productively within a fast-paced team environment.

Physical Requirements
• Lifting Capacity: Ability to repeatedly lift, push, pull, and carry lumber or metal components weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Stamina: Capability to stand, walk, bend, lean, and reach continuously throughout an 8-to-9 hour shift on concrete flooring.
• Environment: Comfort working in a noisy, fast-paced plant environment subject to temperature variations, wood dust, and moving heavy machinery.
