Role Description The Junior Underwriter is a full-time, on-site role based in Phoenix, AZ, responsible for supporting the evaluation and approval of business funding applications. In this role, the Junior Underwriter reviews financial documents, credit reports, bank statements, and other supporting materials to assess risk and eligibility within established guidelines. The position involves performing preliminary analyses, verifying information, and preparing clear summaries and recommendations for senior underwriters or management. The Junior Underwriter communicates with internal teams and, when needed, with clients to obtain missing documentation and clarify details to ensure an efficient funding process. This role also includes maintaining accurate records in internal systems, adhering to compliance standards, and contributing to continuous improvement of underwriting workflows. Qualifications MCA Experience Foundational underwriting and credit analysis skills, including the ability to review financial statements, assess risk, and apply funding criteria consistently. Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy when handling multiple applications and documentation streams. Effective communication skills, including clear written summaries and professional verbal interaction with clients and internal stakeholders. Basic proficiency with spreadsheets, CRM or loan origination systems, and general office software used for data entry, tracking, and reporting. Ability to work in a fast‑paced, on‑site environment, manage time well, follow procedures, and collaborate respectfully with colleagues. Prior experience in lending, banking, financial services, or a related field is beneficial, especially in small business or commercial funding. Understanding of fundamental financial concepts such as cash flow, leverage, and creditworthiness; willingness to learn and adapt to new funding products. High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality, regulatory compliance, and accurate record‑keeping.
