Geotechnical / CMT / Instrumentation Technician

GeoForge, LLC is seeking a motivated Geotechnical / CMT / Instrumentation Technician to support geotechnical investigations, construction materials testing, and geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring projects. Prior experience is preferred but not required. GeoForge will provide training for the right candidate on field testing procedures, equipment operation, instrumentation, and applicable industry standards. Compensation: $20–$30 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Key Responsibilities Perform field testing of soils, concrete, and other construction materials in accordance with applicable ASTM and project specifications. Perform field density and moisture testing using nuclear density gauges and other testing equipment. Observe and document earthwork, excavation, backfill, foundation, and concrete construction activities. Assist with geotechnical drilling, soil sampling, boring logs, and subsurface investigations. Assist with the installation and monitoring of inclinometers, piezometers, settlement monitoring systems, vibration monitors, crack gauges, tiltmeters, and other geotechnical instrumentation. Collect instrumentation readings and maintain accurate field records. Assist with GPR/geophysical investigations and specialized field testing. Prepare daily field reports, testing documentation, photographs, and monitoring records. Maintain and properly operate field testing and monitoring equipment. Coordinate with project engineers, contractors, and field personnel. Follow company and project-specific health and safety requirements. Qualifications High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, Engineering Technology, Geology, or a related field is preferred. No prior geotechnical or CMT experience is required; training will be provided. Willingness to learn geotechnical testing, instrumentation, and construction inspection procedures. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and construction-site conditions. Ability to travel to project sites and work extended or non-standard hours when required. Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document field activities and test results. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to lift and carry field equipment and perform physically demanding field activities. Relevant certifications such as ACI, NICET, TxDOT, ICC, nuclear density gauge, or OSHA are a plus but are not required. GeoForge will assist with training and obtaining applicable certifications as needed.
