Systems AdministratorLocation: Naperville, Illinois — hybrid role, 3 days per week on siteType: Full-time, permanent (occasional out-of-hours / weekend work required for scheduled network upgrades)About the RoleDeciphex is growing fast, and we're looking for a Systems Administrator to join the team, take real ownership of day-to-day IT operations at our Naperville site, and help us move from firefighting to getting ahead of the curve.You'll be responsible for maintaining and optimising our IT infrastructure, resolving ServiceDesk tickets, and ensuring seamless technical support for employees and partners. You'll work closely with our IT team in Ireland and the UK, and report into a manager who's genuinely looking to develop people as the team grows.What You'll Be DoingSystems Administration & Infrastructure ManagementMaintain IT infrastructure (servers, networks, communication systems, endpoints) and ensure optimal performanceInstall, maintain and configure hardware and software systems according to company policiesPerform routine maintenance, inspection and testing of network and server systemsMaintain and configure Information Security software, managing incidents alongside the Incident Management teamManage equipment logistics, including incoming/outgoing shipments and asset register maintenanceWork with the accounts team to stock technical equipment and accessories as requiredIdentify process improvements to reduce recurring IT requests and enhance system efficiencyAssign and monitor tickets, ensuring appropriate prioritisation and escalationWork with the IT Operations Specialist to rationalise costs and maintain cost-effectiveness across IT servicesBuild best practices and standards to enhance ServiceDesk excellence and user satisfactionSupport network upgrades and infrastructure changes — sometimes carried out over weekends to minimise downtimeDeliver the IT side of lab projects, including network provisioning for new instrumentation and scanner installationsUser Support & CollaborationProvide end-user technical support (desk-side and remote) to employees, subcontractors and partnersOnboard and offboard staff members, ensuring proper setup and removal of access rightsConfigure devices and train new staff members during onboardingOffer advice, coaching and technical training to associates on effective use of IT resourcesLiaise and collaborate with core teams to support overall business goalsMaintain excellent relationships with vendors and third-party service providersCompliance, Governance & Continuous ImprovementMaintain and enforce IT policies and procedures in line with regulatory, quality and information security standards (e.g., ISO 27001)Proactively identify opportunities for improvement across systems administration and support functionsEnsure all activities align with company policies, IT governance and security best practicesWhat We're Looking ForBachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field3+ years of professional IT experience in systems administration or IT operationsProven experience managing enterprise LAN/WAN networks and infrastructureSkilled in administration of Office 365 and/or Google Workspace platformsExperience with NAS storage systems, routers, firewalls and VPN configurationExperience with Cisco/Meraki networkingKnowledge of routing, VLANs and network infrastructure (training will be provided)Experience in an ISO 27001-certified environment is highly desirableProficient in configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of hardware and software systemsFamiliarity with ITSM tools, ticketing systems and performance reportingStrong understanding of IT policies, SLA development and incident management processesExperience managing Google Workspace Enterprise or equivalent systems is a distinct advantageWhy Join UsAcross the IT team, you'll have real autonomy, we hire people we trust to get on with the job, not people we watch over.
