Vehicle Mechanic - Experienced

Palisades Tahoe is searching for highly skilled Vehicle Mechanics to maintain and repair a diverse fleet of snow equipment and heavy vehicles. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Job Summary Maintain and repair snow grooming machines, snowmobiles, lift APUs, generators, snowcats, pickup trucks, and various heavy equipment. Diagnose, service, and repair electrical, hydraulic, engine, and transmission systems. Perform both shop and on‑hill work while ensuring safety and operational readiness of all resort vehicles. Job Details Full‑time, year‑round positions available on both sides of the resort and within the upper vehicle maintenance team. Essential Job Responsibilities / Duties / Tasks Inspect vehicles and equipment for safe, dependable operation. Perform preventative maintenance, lubrication, and adjustments following manufacturer guidelines. Repair, remove, and replace parts as needed, both in shop and on the hill. Execute major repairs on gasoline and diesel engines, gearboxes, drives, and transmissions. Carry out metal repairs and fabrication using welding and cutting tools. Complete work orders and track all vehicle maintenance records. Notify supervisors of needed replacement parts and assist with inventory updates. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with safety procedures. Mend damaged body components and assist with shop AST, UST, and daily tank inspections. Adhere to Hazmat compliance and Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure Plan (SPCC). Required: Competencies and Job Requirements Ability to work under pressure in adverse conditions. Own tools. Proficiency in diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues related to safety. Assist with all assigned shop duties. Physical Requirements Walk, talk, see, hear, and smell; frequent hand use, wrist, elbow, twisting, and pulling movements; stand or walk 70% of a normal 8‑hour shift; occasionally lift or pull 100 lbs or more; frequently lift, push, pull, and carry up to 40 lbs; climb movements; walk on uneven terrain, snow, and ice; operate snow vehicles; bend, kneel, reach, and crawl; meet specific vision requirements. Working Conditions Indoor/Outdoor: occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions; work near moving mechanical parts and in precarious places. Hazardous materials and noise: contact with hazardous substances; exposure to extreme cold/heating, wet conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and electric shock; noise level usually loud. Required: Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED. 3 years of relevant vehicle maintenance experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Mechanical experience in automotive, truck, bus, heavy equipment, or fleet diagnostics and repair. Familiarity with typical shop hand tools and equipment. Experience with diagnostic tools and computers. Mechanical and electrical diagnostic and repair skills. Hydraulic system diagnostics and repair. Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics. Welding and fabrication background. Understanding of air and hydraulic brake systems. Valid driver’s license.
