Essential Job Functions Develops and oversees core Laboratory Services to ensure adherence to organizational mission, vision, values, strategic goals, and business strategies. Interprets and supports the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic. Responsible for promotion of, and adherence to, the elements of the Clinic’s Code of Business Conduct and corporate compliance program. In collaboration with the Director, physician and pathologist leadership and other medical staff, administration, and other health care providers, develops and implements short and long‑range plans, and leads, develops and revises programs which enhance department services. Provides leadership and oversight for the daily operations within the laboratory. Develops, maintains and implements general laboratory and organizational policies relevant to the provision of laboratory services. Responsible for CAP preparations and readiness. Works closely with the Pathologists to identify and resolve operational issues and concerns. Assists and supports the Director with various project management needs to include data gathering, financial analysis, Performa, ROI, capital equipment requests, and more. Responsible for management of the daily operations and service deliverables for all areas of the laboratory. Participates in the development of a cost‑effective annual budget and manages the budget for core laboratory responsibilities. Manages supply inventory and utilization and seeks opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality. Actively participates in Operational Excellence initiatives and projects. Responsible for management of laboratory productivity and monitoring and oversight of variance reports. Implements corrective actions to facilitate process changes. Practices process improvement principles to assess and improve the quality of service and care provided within Laboratory Services. Maintains competency in all relevant organizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee, and patient safety standards and ensures compliance of the department and staff. Develops, maintains and implements an effective quality control and quality assurance program in all areas of the laboratory. Reviews and conducts investigations of any HIPAA violations or occurrence reports and implements corrective action as needed to improve workflow or processes and prevent future incidents. Responsible for managing the laboratory equipment maintenance program in the main lab and within the regional clinics. Responsible for various organizational quality and accreditation initiatives. Develops, retains, recruits, and leads a talented team committed to accomplishing the clinic’s goals and objectives. Recommends, implements, and evaluates plans and systems that assure a sufficient number of qualified and competent staff to provide care and services. Adheres to administrative policies and procedures relating to human resource management. Provides oversight for the interviewing and hiring of all laboratory staff. Completes performance and competency assessments and reviews as appropriate (e.g., 30‑day meeting, 90‑day meeting, probationary and annual performance reviews). Develops and implements orientation programs for new and current staff, staff training, proficiency testing and competency validations, staff in‑services and staff meetings. Ensures completion of all required annual mandatory education and works closely with Human Resources to ensure timely verification of all required licensures. Works closely with Human Resources on employee relations issues and provides appropriate coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action to laboratory supervisors as needed. Promotes laboratory services careers through involvement and management of student internships and activities within the department to ensure a quality experience for students and the clinic. Demonstrates and encourages an ethic of open communication and teamwork throughout the organization. Builds an environment of shared commitment to clinic’s goals and responsibility to achieve quality outcomes. Provides consultation for related concerns and acts as a customer advocate by demonstrating sensitivity to ethical and legal ramifications of practice. Participates in evaluation, selection and integration of health care technology and information management systems that support quality of care and financial needs and the efficient use of resources. Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department and organization. Minimum Qualifications 4‑Year Bachelor’s Degree. Bachelor’s degree relevant to the service area preferred with 5 years of experience in the service area. Current licensure or certification in the State of Montana as appropriate or required for the service line. Current Montana driver’s license and the ability to be insured to operate clinic vehicles. #J-18808-Ljbffr
