Job Summary Under general supervision, this Per‑Diem All Shifts position is responsible for maintaining a therapeutic environment for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and angiography. The approximate pay range is $85.43 – $105.07. The role provides direct patient care, assessment, planning and intervention, assists with patient preparation and management during procedures, monitors physiologic and cardiac output, assists with sterilization, inventory and maintenance of cath trays and related supplies, inserts and maintains intravenous lines, prepares, dispenses and monitors medications during cardiovascular lab cases, maintains drug inventory, prepares emergency resuscitation equipment, closely observes patients for complications such as hypotension, allergic reactions, bleeding and arrhythmias, prepares patients and assists with scrub duties, operates physiologic monitoring, radiography equipment, records intra‑cardiac pressures and other physiologic data, calculates pressure gradients and cardiac output, operates cardiac output computer, oximeter, ergometer, and related equipment, ensures careful usage of equipment, assists with preparation and operation of power injectors and film processing, maintains cine quality control, assists with lab turnaround, restocking supplies, and provides input for patient billing. Responsibilities Assists with sterile tray setups, patient scrubbing, confidentiality maintenance, workload planning, trainee and employee supervision, professional conduct, use of physiologic monitoring and radiography equipment, calculation of physiologic data, handling of cardiac output computer, and maintaining patient safety and welfare. Demonstrates competence in caring for pediatric or frail elderly patients relative to their specific needs, assists with patient positioning and radiographic equipment, assists with madras power injector preparation, assists with film processing, maintains cine quality control, maintains the environment for cardiovascular lab operations, restocking supplies, and providing billing input. Additional duties include performing other job‑related duties as assigned by the Cath Lab Supervisor and maintaining confidentiality, legal awareness, professional accountability, and leadership and problem‑solving. Demonstrates effective communication, clerical and computer entry functions, and maintains current California licensure and certifications. Required Qualifications Current California RN License (required) Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) (required) Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (required) Proof of all licenses and certifications at the time of hire Graduate of an accredited school of nursing preferred; RCIS certification must be obtained within 1 year of employment Proper training in a cardiovascular lab and 1 year of previous experience in ICU/CCU or emergency CCRN; cath lab/IR nursing experience preferred Knowledge of cardiovascular lab procedures, protocol, tray preparation and sterile techniques Knowledge of cardiac‑related complications and operation of emergency resuscitation equipment Strong oral and written communication skills Interpersonal and organizational skills Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching above shoulders, twisting, kneeling, and lifting/pulling/pushing up to 50 pounds. May occasionally perform CPR and help position patients via bed or gurney. Requires near, mid‑focal, and far visual acuity; conversational speech. Must tolerate high noise levels. Must have close contact with patients and potential exposure to blood, body fluids, infection, and radiation. Will be fit‑tested for a particulate respirator. Works with electrical equipment. Experience Minimum 1 year professional nursing experience in a cardiovascular setting, or equivalent.
