Location: Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, 600 Moye Blvd, Greenville, NC 27858.

Overview

The ECU Health Transplant Program delivers state‑of‑the‑art care to patients with end‑stage organ failure across eastern North Carolina. The program plans to launch a liver transplant service soon, and the Transplant Surgery Chief will play a key role in its development. The division currently performs over 120 renal transplants annually (cadaveric & living donor) and is expanding into robotic donor nephrectomy. Candidates should have an interest in vascular access surgery and general surgery coverage for transplant patients. Experience as part of a multi‑disciplinary team is required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Division Chief of Transplant Surgery and Immunology.
• Lead development of the forthcoming liver transplant service.
• Oversee patient care for transplant patients, including vascular access and general surgery.
• Direct clinical research initiatives and maintain scholarly activity.
• Mentor medical students, residents, and fellows within the division.

Qualifications

• MD with board certification in general surgery.
• Completed an ASTS‑certified abdominal organ fellowship.
• Leadership experience and a strong background in clinical research preferred.
• Experience in patient care as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
• Ability to obtain required hospital privileges and comply with institutional policies.
