Scientist 1, Analytical Development

Catalent seeks an Analytical Development Scientist for its San Diego facility to develop and qualify analytical test methods for drug products and intermediates. The role involves performing laboratory experiments autonomously, troubleshooting analytical methods, and communicating progress to cross-functional teams in a Monday-Friday onsite position.
Responsibilities
- Perform and train others on analytical techniques including HPLC, GC, DSC, TGA, and spectroscopy methods
- Develop cleaning verification methods and execute excipient compatibility and forced degradation studies
- Design and execute analytical experiments; troubleshoot and optimize methods for drug characterization
- Conduct qualification studies to assess method suitability for Quality Control transfer
- Interpret analytical data independently, maintain accurate laboratory records, and engage with clients on technical matters
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in physical, chemical, biological, or pharmaceutical science
- One or more years of analytical development experience
- Proficiency in HPLC/UPLC, GC, DSC, TGA, PXRD, SEM, and UV/Vis spectroscopy
- Master's degree in relevant field preferred
- Detail-oriented with ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and technical writing
Compensation: $78,000 – $85,000 base
