Silpa Companies is hiring a Senior Data Engineer for client engagements centered on Snowflake and dbt at production scale. You will build the ELT layer, own contract‑driven modeling from staging through marts, harden orchestration on Airflow or Dagster, and partner with analytics‑engineering and analytics teams as customers of the platform you build. This is a senior IC role expected to set the bar on dbt practice for the engagement. Build and maintain ELT pipelines from source systems into Snowflake using Fivetran, Airbyte, or custom connectors. Own dbt 1.7+ modeling at production scale: staging, intermediate, and marts layers with rigorous testing and documentation. Harden orchestration on Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect including SLA tracking and freshness alerting. Implement data contracts at the producer‑consumer boundary using dbt model contracts or schema‑registry patterns. Tune Snowflake warehouses, clustering, and resource monitors for cost‑aware performance. Build and maintain CDC and streaming ingestion patterns where source latency requires it (Snowpipe Streaming, Kafka, Debezium). Partner with analytics engineering on the metric‑layer practice (dbt Semantic Layer, MetricFlow). Run data‑quality programs using dbt tests and Elementary Data, Soda, or Monte Carlo. Mentor mid‑level data engineers and uphold the team’s dbt style guide. 5 or more years of professional data engineering with at least 3 on cloud warehouses. Production experience with Snowflake at engineering depth (warehouse tuning, RBAC, Streams, Tasks, Snowpipe). Production experience with dbt 1.5+ on a serious analytics codebase. Strong SQL fluency including window functions, CTEs, and warehouse‑specific patterns. Working knowledge of at least one orchestrator (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect). Authorized to work in the U.S. Candidates located in the Houston, Texas area will be given preference; remote consultants will also be considered. Reliable, secure internet connection and ability to travel to client sites as required by engagement scope.
