Mission Support Specialist

Organizational Location: These positions are located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), in multiple locations as specified in this announcement. Salary: The salary range indicated in this announcement will be adjusted to include locality payment for the selected duty location. Minimum Qualifications for GS-09 Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service, performing 3 or more of the following: Providing support to program staff during the development of projects or programs; Assisting with tracking mechanisms to track workflow within a work unit; Analyzing issues to provide relevant precedents, facts, or documentation; Assessing inquiries and determining what information is required and the possible sources for the data requested. OR Education: Master’s or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Minimum Qualifications for GS-11 Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service, performing 3 or more of the following: Providing technical support for projects, programs, or organizational initiatives; Researching and evaluating programmatic or administrative issues; Assessing documentation for compliance and accuracy; Advising on or resolving recurring operational or procedural issues. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. Minimum Qualifications for GS-12 Specialized Experience: Applicant must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service, performing 3 or more of the following: Presenting data, findings, or recommendations to leadership; Developing project plans, timelines, or implementation strategies; Planning, evaluating, or coordinating organizational resource allocation/utilization, performance measures, or process improvement initiatives; Coordinating activities with internal or external stakeholders.
