Key Responsibilities Identify patients at nutritional risk using evidence-based criteria and clinical judgment Respond promptly to nutrition consultations from healthcare providers and patients Assess nutritional status through comprehensive evaluation of medical history, labs, dietary intake, and physical exam Develop and implement tailored, interdisciplinary nutrition care plans Provide counseling on diets, modifications, and therapeutic interventions Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as neededli> Collaborate with healthcare team members via communication and conferences Supervise and mentor dietetic interns, supporting their professional growth Deliver educational presentations on nutrition topics to healthcare professionals and community groups Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental committees to enhance care quality Support departmental and organizational goals through additional responsibilities Qualifications & Skills Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in dietetics or bachelor’s degree (for grandfathered candidates) Completion of a supervised nutrition practice program Eligibility to sit for the Dietitian registration exam Preferred Clinical experience in acute care settings Licensing & Certification Eligibility for registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration Pass the Registration Examination within six months of hire Obtain NYS certification (CDN) within one year Preference for Registered Dietitians Work Environment Work occurs in both office and patient care settings, often in busy nursing units requiring close collaboration.
