Shipping Clerk

Shipping Clerk Department: Packaging & Shipping Reports To: Packaging & Shipping Supervisor Job Summary To communicate with customer truck drivers and arrange for loading of trucks. Prioritize dock times, assign lot numbers, allocate inventory to bulk and bag shipments, conduct final inspection of trucks, and prepare all shipping documents. Responsibilities Communicate with customer truck drivers. Assign lot numbers and allocate inventory for bulk and bag shipments. Assign trucks to loading docks and prioritize loading. Conduct pre‑shipment inspection of bag trucks. Prepare all shipping documents for trucks using Ross, Cardinal and IFS software. Conduct final inspection of bag trucks and seal all bag trucks before departure. Inspect incoming freight and sign for receipt. Generate master shipping sheets from the computer daily. Communicate with the transportation department, other shipping clerks and customer service on shipping details. Communicate with customer truck dispatchers on shipment status. Maintain shipment records as assigned. Perform all other duties as assigned by the leader or designate. Maintain a clean and safe work area and conduct daily inspection of the work area. Operate forklift as required, load bag trucks, and enter work orders in IFS. Qualifications High school level education, ability to read and write and perform basic math. Verbal communication skills with listening and comprehension skills. Ability to qualify as a forklift operator and operate forklifts and front‑end loaders. Previous forklift driving and equipment operation experience in a production or warehouse environment (preferred). Experience with the Cardinal System and general computer skills (preferred). Communication skills: verbal, non‑verbal, listening, understanding verbal instructions, consulting with others, interpersonal skills, teamwork, ability to assist others, coordinate, compare, manipulate, set‑up skills and ability to operate equipment safely. Required activities: operation of forklift and front‑end loader, using truck scales correctly, twisting, kneeling, sitting for periods of time, climbing on and off equipment, walking, talking, signaling, hearing, seeing, color differentiation, and attention to details.
