The is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents by delivering a wide range of recreational programs, services, special events, and maintenance efforts that foster community engagement, environmental stewardship, and lifelong learning. The department is organized into four key divisions. Community Services Administration oversees strategic planning, budgeting, and coordination across all service areas. Recreation Programs and Citywide Special Events offer inclusive activities and events that promote wellness, cultural enrichment, and social connection. The City Parks, Landscape, Facility Maintenance and Ranger Patrols division ensures that Menifee's parks and public spaces are safe, clean, and welcoming through regular maintenance and patrol services. Lastly, the Solid Waste and Recycling Programs division supports sustainability through educational outreach, waste reduction initiatives, and recycling services. Together, these divisions reflect the department's commitment to building a vibrant, connected, and environmentally conscious community. THE OPPORTUNITY The Community Services Coordinator assists in the coordination and implementation of recreation, leisure and educational programs within the Community Services Department; assists with the selection and training of volunteers, seasonal, and part-time staff; organizes special events and activities; and performs related duties as assigned. The current vacancy will oversee the following program areas:
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited four-year college or university in recreation, public administration, or a closely related field, along with at least three (3) years of paid experience developing and implementing Recreation, Community Services, or Parks programs. Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by college level course works in recreation and leisure studies, public administration, or a directly related field and five (5) years of responsible paid experience in the development and implementation of recreation programs and events and/or large-scale event planning may satisfy the minimum qualification requirement.

The current vacancy will oversee the following program areas:
- Healthy Menifee: Planning and implementation of Healthy Menifee programming that emphasize healthy eating, staying active, and mental wellness.
- Sports: Recruitment of volunteer coaches, planning and implementation of sports programs and camps, and scheduling and facilitation of youth sports leagues.
- Aquatics: Continued development of a growing aquatics program, focused on coordinating a swim lesson program, educating and enforcing water safety, and training lifeguards and the public in drowning prevention.
- Plan and implement recreation programs including leisure, educational, and community service activities for all age groups
- Lead and supervise activities such as sports, arts, crafts, dance, outdoor education, after-school programs, and special events
- Develop a comprehensive aquatics staff training curriculum and ensure staff has proper and current certifications.
- Promote water safety and drowning prevention practices by providing private and group swim lessons for all ages, ensure a fun and safe learning environment.
- Develop and implement a variety of recreation programs, including youth sports, alternative and adaptive sports, skate park operations, health and fitness, and aquatics.
- Coordinate special events including vendor communication, logistics, and on-site support
- Develop marketing and outreach materials such as flyers, brochures, news releases, and presentations
- Provide customer service and resolve issues by responding to concerns, investigating complaints, and implementing solutions
- Supervise staff and volunteers including hiring support, training, scheduling, task assignment, and performance monitoring
- Oversee facility rentals by setting up rooms, monitoring events, and ensuring policy compliance
- Maintain program records including attendance, activity logs, financial tracking, and administrative reports
- Process registrations and point-of-sale transactions for programs and activities
- Manage equipment and supplies through issuing, tracking, inventorying, and proper storage
- Represent the department in meetings, advisory committees, and community partnerships
- Ensure compliance with regulations including City, State, Federal, and departmental policies
- Use office and software tools to maintain records, generate reports, and create promotional materials
- Maintain positive working relationships with patrons, staff, volunteers, City departments, and community organizations
- Perform related duties as assigned to support departmental operations
