Production Operator - Night Shift

Shift : Nights (6:30PM - 7:00AM) working a 2, 2, 3 schedule

Compensation: - $28.31/hour

Must have the ability to learn and independently operate "one" workstation below :

• Line Driver

• Stacker

• Wrapper

• Cooling Section

• Cutter

• Coater

• Dry End

• Palletizer

Role and Responsibilities:

This employee must demonstrate core skills, which include understanding company safety policies, and adherence to the SGC Principles of Conduct and Action guidelines, as well as, the five SGC Attitudes. Also 5-S requirements, sustaining the process and general housekeeping guidelines are required. Employee must follow verbal and written instructions and have knowledge of product line and manufacturing standards. The normal operating duties are listed below are not intended to be inclusive and may change depending on unforeseen circumstances or are assigned by supervision for success of the operation.

• Must be able to work independently or with a team

• Must be able to read, write and do basic mathematic skills

• Must be willing to learn and seek knowledge from trainers, production leads and supervisors to ensure that you successfully and safely know your position being trained on

• Maintain 5S of work area and equipment

• Ensure the area is producing at the highest level of quality

• Must be able to work 8 to 12 hours on his/her feet, lift 50 lbs. on a repeated basis over a normal workday, and climb ladders safely.

• Fill in for absent or vacationing employee in the same roll

• Perform administrative duties when necessary

• Perform visual inspection of job processes and verify it meets quality specifications set by the company

• Conduct operations according to established quality and productions standards and/or procedures for assigned job role

• Communication of production issues or concerns on shift

• Maintain a thoroughly cleaned area in and around assigned job role

• Achieve and maintain qualification on production operator job roles as required

• Must work in a manner that is safe while continuously ensuring quality, production and performance expectations are met.

• Participation and completion of required Environmental, Health and Safety training. Responsible for performing SMAT observations and other audit programs, cleaning, painting, and maintaining 5S system.

• Participation and completion of required EHS training.

• Perform Lockout/Tagout on the equipment of assigned job role

• Must work successfully as a team, respect one another, and communicate effectively

• Participate in continuous improvement projects and teams

• Follow all safety training and documents for this site

• Meet department's key objectives

• Participate in Company Safety program

• Must understand and follow job specific Job Safety Analysis sheets

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• High school or equivalent (Required)

• Industrial Manufacturing: 1 year (Preferred)

• Good oral communication skills

• Excellent Attendance Practices Required

• Ability to deal calmly and effectively with high stress situations, sensitivity to other's needs and maintain a positive demeanor.

• May be required to be certified by the company to operate a forklift or other mobile equipment

CertainTeed uses a third party to perform an extensive background check that can take up to two weeks.

Environmental Conditions:

• Manufacturing plant is not temperature controlled; dust, fumes, and high noise areas are present inside plant areas. Plant environment is not climate controlled. Manufacturing processes involve granules, sand, fiberglass, asphalt coating, crushed rock, and polypropylene. Noise levels exceed 80 dB in some areas of the site. Moving equipment such as fork lifts, buggies, genie booms and industrial sweepers travel throughout the facility, sometimes in congested areas

Physical/Mental Requirements:

• Ability to work an average of 40+ hours per week, speak clearly so others understand, vision acuity for this position include close vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk and hear.

• This role is suited for individuals who are detail-oriented, quality-focused, and capable of making real-time decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Candidates must demonstrate strong observational skills and the ability to consistently apply quality standards while inspecting products on the production line.

Candidates will also be required to successfully complete a series of pre-employment assessments prior to the interview process to evaluate relevant mechanical aptitude, problem-solving ability, and basic job-related knowledge.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to effectively communicate quality concerns, especially when identifying out-of-spec conditions or escalating issues.

Problem-solving is a core competency for this role. The ideal candidate must be able to analyze information, evaluate results, and determine the best course of action when troubleshooting quality or equipment-related issues. The ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams is essential.
