Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse

Assignment Length: 8 Weeks

Shift Schedule: 3x12 Hour Shifts, Days and Nights available

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse for an 8-week contract assignment. The ideal candidate is a confident, adaptable clinician who can seamlessly integrate into a fast-paced L&D unit and provide exceptional care to patients throughout the antepartum, intrapartum, and immediate postpartum periods.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess fetal well-being using continuous electronic fetal monitoring (EFM); interpret and respond to fetal heart rate patterns
• Manage patients in all stages of labor, including induction, augmentation, and spontaneous labor
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections, including scrubbing and circulating in the OR
• Administer oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, and other high-alert obstetric medications per protocol
• Provide care for high-risk obstetric patients including preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, preterm labor, and IUFD
• Place and manage epidural support, IV access, Foley catheters, and fetal scalp electrodes
• Perform newborn assessments and initiate immediate newborn stabilization as needed
• Provide patient and family education on labor progression, pain management options, breastfeeding, and postpartum care
• Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, NICU, and ancillary staff
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the EMR
• Adhere to hospital policies, Joint Commission standards, and AWHONN guidelines

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered RN license (compact license or state-specific licensure as required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience (within the last 3 years)
• Current BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required at start
• Proficiency with electronic fetal monitoring; AWHONN EFM certification preferred
• Ability to scrub and circulate for cesarean sections preferred
• Experience with high-risk obstetric populations

Preferred Qualifications

• RNC-OB (Inpatient Obstetric Nursing) certification
• ACLS certification
• Experience with triage and antepartum care
• Travel nursing experience or demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to new environments
