Central Washington Justice for Our Neighbors (CWJFON) is a non-profit immigration law and justice organization serving immigrants east of the Cascades in Washington State. CWJFON provides free immigration-related legal services to individuals and families at or below 200% of the Federal poverty level. In addition, CWJFON organizes to build collective power within impacted communities and advocates for just immigration laws, policies, and practices that ensure dignity and provide a path forward. CWJFON was founded in 2018. As a young non-profit organization, CWJFON is amid a significant shift in organizational culture that further clarifies its service area, mission, vision and values, to ensure sustainability and excellence into the future. CWJFON is committed to equity in all aspects of organizational life including its relationships with impacted communities and clients; within the board of directors; among the staff; among partner organizations; and in the intersections among these groups. CWJFON is an affiliate of the Immigration Law & Justice Network, an association of 16 similar organizations throughout the country, founded by the United Methodist Committee on Relief in the 1980s. The network provides strategic support for the sites to strengthen efforts locally. THE ROLE The Executive Director is responsible for centering the organization on its mission while ensuring its financial health and operational integrity. The Executive Director is also responsible for ensuring that the organization is a trusted community partner. Responsibilities will include: Strategic Vision and Planning : Lead annual strategic planning efforts, initially using results of the My Healthy Organizations Assessment. In collaboration with the board and staff, establish measures of success and ensure proper and timely evaluation of these measures. Position the organization to respond to volatility in the immigration system. Ensure succession planning for key roles. Board Development : Support the board in developing its skills, recruiting and onboarding of new members in a manner that reflects organizational values. Foster an environment where impacted communities inform organizational direction and policy development. Support the board in establishing measures for its success and methods for evaluation. Financial Management : Ensure proper fiscal management for long-term sustainability including budgeting, financial analysis, financial accountability systems, reserve policies, and investment strategies. Recruit and manage contract support as needed. Fundraising : Lead efforts to secure funding from diverse sources, including foundations, individuals, public institutions, and faith communities, among others. Manage consultants to support this work. Maintain excellent relationships with funders by ensuring proper reporting and maintaining integrity in use of funds. Staff Leadership : Foster a collaborative and inclusive organizational culture that values the gifts and commitment of staff, and measures success against anticipated outcomes. Manage staff onboarding, recruitment, retention, development, and compliance. Supervise staff and various contractors to ensure the organization is functioning to its highest potential and with integrity to its mission, vision, and values. Community Organizing and Empowerment : Lead immigrant justice efforts by advocating for policy reform that fosters human dignity, anti-racism and equity-based systems, and a reliable path forward for those seeking status in the United States. Foster collaborative relationships with community-based organizations through CWJFON’s legal services programming, in partnership with other local efforts. Foster community-based advocacy by supporting local leaders from impacted communities to use their voices for positive change and amplify those voices in areas of influence. Develop strategies to expand advocacy through board and volunteers. Contribute to a landscape of collaboration in social and legal services. WHO YOU ARE The ideal candidate is a visionary and collaborative leader with demonstrated experience in shepherding a developing non-profit organization to operationalize its mission, vision, and values. Equally important, CWJFON’s next executive director will be responsible for closely managing the fiscal and administrative functions of a 501c3. Strong candidates for this role, will have demonstrated skills in fundraising, including the development, cultivation and management of relationships with grantors and individual donors. You will be an effective communicator with media, funders, elected officials, partners, board, and staff. You will have demonstrated experience in community organizing, preferably in rural communities and with first generation immigrants. Strong candidates may have experience working as a legal professional or on issues relevant to immigrant law and justice. Fluency in Spanish is highly valued in this role. IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS Demonstrated competencies in strategic planning, board development, financial management, fundraising, staff leadership, and community organizing. Validated commitment to immigrant justice. Minimum of 5 years’ experience serving in a leadership role in the nonprofit sector. Creativity in leading in environments where need outpaces resources. Excellence in communication within and outside of one’s cultural experience. Practical experience in designing for equity and inclusion. Fluency in Spanish. Proficiency in digital office technologies and social media platforms. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a graduate degree preferred. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary. A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel regionally and nationally. Reside in central or eastern Washington or willingness to relocate. Pass a background check upon accepting an employment offer. COMPENSATIONS & BENEFITS The annual salary range for this full-time exempt role is $100,000 - $125,000 (DOE). The role is hybrid, and travel is required. CWJFON is pleased to offer the following benefits in addition to the annual salary: Full medical, vision, and dental insurance (for employee only) paid for by CWJFON. Generous PTO package including 80 hours of vacation and 80 hours sick time (on an accrual basis) and 10 holidays, 10 personal days, and two-week winter break, with increased PTO after first year of employment. Voluntary participation in 401K with up to 6% match after three months. $960 annual contribution to an FSA account.
