Vice President Operations

Company Overview

This company is one of the largest machine tool distributor networks in North America. It is a third generation, family-owned and operated business that serves manufacturers of precision machined parts in the United States. The company supplies machine tools, tooling, accessories and automation to manufacturers from virtually every industry, including medical devices, aerospace, defense, oil and energy, automotive and heavy construction equipment. This divisional role is based in Huntsville, Alabama.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Division President of the company, the Vice President of Operations is responsible for leading all aspects of the company's operational performance, execution, and continuous improvement initiatives. This executive leader will drive operational excellence across the installation team, supply chain, procurement, logistics, quality assurance, inventory management, facilities, and program execution while ensuring alignment with the President of the company and the corporate initiatives.

The VP of Operations will develop and execute operational strategies that improve efficiency, increase profitability, enhance customer satisfaction, and support scalable growth. The ideal candidate combines strategic leadership with a hands-on operating style and has a proven track record leading complex operations within manufacturing, aerospace, defense, government contracting, industrial services, or related industries.

The successful candidate will be based in, or be willing to relocate, to Huntsville, Alabama and will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive operational leadership experience.
• Minimum of 7 years leading multi-functional operations teams.
• Demonstrated success leading manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and operational excellence initiatives.
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and operational P&L responsibilities.
• Experience developing and implementing Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement programs.
• Proven ability to scale operations during periods of rapid growth.
