Respiratory Therapist

This is a 13-week contract position.

Night shift, 3x12.0 hours.

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. They evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans while explaining treatments, tests, and equipment to patients, providing necessary education upon discharge to home.

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments operating various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive.
• Administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation to patients using various oxygen, aerosol, and nebulizer devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Review patient chest x-rays to determine the need for further evaluation.
• Perform 12-Lead EKGs and basic arrhythmia recognition.
• Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist with procedures related to respiratory care.
• Perform tracheostomy care, including the insertion and removal of tubes.
• Execute arterial punctures, monitoring and reporting test results according to policy.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging and documentation of treatments and patient responses.
• Communicate with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficiency.

• Current Respiratory Therapy license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
