Together, we create our culture by living our values in our day-to-day interactions with our patients and teammates.The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for providing pre-hospital emergency medical care and transportation for the sick and injured in accordance with established protocols and regulatory requirements. Working as part of a team, the EMT ensures timely, compassionate, and efficient care to patients in a variety of emergency and non-emergency situations. The EMT maintains equipment and vehicles, documents services provided, and supports other clinical and operational duties as assigned.Essential FunctionsResponds to emergency calls and provides basic life support in line with EMT scope of practiceAssesses patient condition, determines nature of illness or injury, and provides appropriate treatmentAssists in lifting, moving, and transporting patients safely via ambulance or other approved methodsCommunicates effectively with dispatch, emergency departments, physicians, and family membersOperates and maintains medical equipment including oxygen, suction units, stretchers, and monitorsDocuments all patient care activities accurately in accordance with department and regulatory standardsMaintains cleanliness, readiness, and inventory of emergency response vehicles and equipmentSupports emergency room or hospital transport team functions as neededParticipates in quality improvement activities and continuing education requirementsFollows safety and infection prevention protocols in all patient care activitiesKnowledge/Skills/Abilities/ExpectationsKnowledge of EMT scope of practice and emergency care proceduresStrong interpersonal and communication skills under pressureAbility to respond quickly and effectively in emergent and unpredictable environmentsProficiency in documentation and use of electronic medical records (EMRs)Physical strength and stamina to lift patients and operate heavy equipmentCommitment to patient confidentiality, professionalism, and team collaborationMust be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidaysQualificationsEducationHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredCompletion of an accredited EMT programLicenses/CertificationsCurrent EMT certification in the state of practice requiredBasic Life Support (BLS) certification requiredAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferredValid driver's license and driving record that meets company standards (if driving responsibilities are included)ExperienceOne (1) year of experience in pre-hospital emergency care preferred
