Yard Driver-On Property

Yard Driver - 6pm Start - $22.50/hr CDL Preferred

The Yard Driver is responsible for the timely movement and spotting of containers or route trucks to facilitate the needs of the receiving department or bulk and beer production areas. He or she appropriately handles all materials following company policies and procedures to ensure a safe and secure workplace. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned according to each receiving or production department.

Responsibilities include maintaining a neat and orderly storage lot oriented toward maximizing efficiency in servicing the Warehouse needs, operating Yard Truck or Route Trucks in a safe manner during numerous roll-on/roll-off procedures daily involving loaded and empty containers, driving and operating vehicle adhering to the posted speed limit under 15 mph in and around the Warehouse and storage lot/staging area, maintaining awareness that the operation is a low mileage severe duty function requiring particular attention to preventive maintenance checks and services as well as actual scheduled vehicle maintenance, maintaining awareness that operations occur on asphalt, concrete, and gravel surfaces in a hostile environment often contaminated with material subject to embedding in tires, effectively functioning and interacting daily with Warehouse personnel and complying with Warehouse safety requirements, communicating using a cellular telephone or 2-way radio with dispatch, operations, and Warehouse personnel, safeguarding all valuable commodities and the storage areas, and accepting guidance from supervisory personnel regarding the disposition, loading and transferring product in a safe manner, and performing other duties as assigned.

Critical skills include strong attention to detail, ability to read, write, and perform basic math computations, ability to learn and use United technology, ability to abide by the Company's policies and procedures; specifically the attendance policy, ability to learn and maintain knowledge of company and products, and working knowledge of computerized hand-held devices.

Working conditions include maintaining very high proficiency and job standards while working in a non-temperature controlled environment that includes exposure to heat, high humidity, and inclement weather, working occasionally in refrigerated areas, working in an environment with moderate to loud noise levels and some dust and fumes from power equipment, and working long hours based on the needs of the business including daily overtime, holidays and overtime as required.

Physical requirements and essential functions include regular, reliable attendance required, able to climb in and out of trailers consistently, able to frequently operate a pallet jack and/or forklift if assigned, able to stand and walk, reach with arms and hands, lift and carry, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel, able to perform greater than average lifting (50-65 lbs) with some overhead lifting required, and must have specific vision abilities that include close vision, distance vision and the ability to judge distance.
