Mobile Technician II

Job Summary As a Mobile Technician II, you are responsible for performing intermediate service and repair of J.B. Hunt tractors, trailers, chassis, containers or power equipment. This role works outside of the shop, servicing equipment at customer sites or rail yards using the mobile service truck. Key Responsibilities Perform intermediate-level preventive maintenance and repairs, including tire replacements, brake repairs, electrical diagnostics and basic structural repairs on tractor or trailer equipment. Troubleshoot and repair ABS systems. Operate the mobile service truck and maintain inventory. Assist in onboarding and mentoring tractor technician trainees. Adhere to all safety requirements onsite and at customer locations. Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures. Document damage to company equipment to estimate repair costs. Use cutting torch and welding equipment for mid-level repairs on chassis, frames, and other equipment. Patch holes in trailer or container side panels and roofs. Perform annual AA trailer and FHWA brake inspections under direct supervision. Work Schedule Shifts may vary based upon location and business needs. Qualifications Minimum qualifications: 18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years of age for equipment over 10,000 lbs with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, or a military equivalent. Demonstrated skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences. Clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines. Supply own basic tools or purchase through the toolbox purchase program. Willingness to work outdoors in various elements. Ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed. Preferred Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, or a military equivalent. At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes. Welding certification. Forklift certification and experience. EPA Section 608 certification and refrigeration license. Strong communication and interpretation skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or as part of a team. Proficient computer skills, comfortable with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Efficient use of time and resources. Ability to lift or move equipment up to 50 pounds. Ability to wear appropriate work attire and PPE. Compensation Pay may be influenced by skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications. The position may be eligible for an annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes, in accordance with the Company’s bonus and incentive plans and applicable terms.
