Registered Nurse - Observation/CDU Unit

Procedures performed on unit: Chest tube management, Foleys, IV therapy, NG Tube, basic medical surgical nursing

Number of Beds: 24

Patient Ratios: 1:6

Unit staffing description: (unit secretaries and tech availability.) 2 CNA typically 12-16 patients. Assist with ADL's, vital signs, glucose checks or any task non-invasive. Nurses do primary care with 10 or less patients.

Type of equipment: Alaris Infusion Pump, Iphone- Imobile technology, electronic white boards

Documentation system: Meditech-EBCD documentation

Scheduling requirements: Will assist in covering the needs of the unit. Rotating every other weekend.

Floating policy: Contract labor is first to float.

Patient Experience requirements: Hourly rounding, AIDET, Never introduce as a traveler. You are an employee of Capital Regional Medical Center and we are dedicated to the care and improvement of human life. No passing call lights. Everyone works as a Team.

Unit Operations - The Observation/CDU Unit provides patient care 24 hours per day, 7 days a week for observation status patients. Typically, these patients have a 24-48hr stay. If patients do not meet criteria of the unit or becomes an inpatient, patients will be transferred to another medical unit.
