Senior Accountant

My client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background in cost accounting, inventory analysis, and manufacturing accounting. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate product costing, analyzing inventory performance, supporting month-end close activities, and partnering with operations to improve financial performance across manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Prepare and analyze monthly cost accounting reports, including product costing, manufacturing variances, and gross margin analysis. Maintain and update standard costs, ensuring accuracy of bills of materials (BOMs), labor, and overhead allocations. Perform inventory accounting activities, including inventory reconciliations, cycle count analysis, physical inventory support, and reserve calculations. Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances and communicate findings to manufacturing and operations leadership. Partner with plant leadership to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve operational efficiencies. Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Prepare inventory and cost-related balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Monitor inventory valuation, excess and obsolete inventory, and inventory turnover metrics. Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and standard cost roll processes. Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies. Assist with internal and external audits by preparing supporting schedules and documentation. Develop and improve reporting processes utilizing ERP systems and advanced Excel capabilities. Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Production, Procurement, and Finance teams to ensure accurate financial reporting. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 1 year focused on cost accounting and inventory analysis. Strong understanding of: Standard costing Inventory accounting BOMs and routing structures Cost allocations Inventory controls Experience supporting month-end close and financial statement preparation. Knowledge of GAAP and internal controls. Preferred Experience Manufacturing industry experience is strongly preferred. Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor, Infor, NetSuite, or similar manufacturing ERP platforms. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and financial modeling. Experience working with Power BI or other business intelligence tools is a plus.
