Outside Sales Representative

American Book Company is seeking a dedicated, mission-driven Outside Sales Representative to spearhead our growth across North Carolina. The Role You will serve as the face of American Book Company, building lasting relationships with schools and districts. This is a high-activity role that balances autonomy with strong organizational support. Relationship Building: Conduct an average of 40 face-to-face visits per week to educational institutions. Strategic Planning: Collaborate with our Inside Sales team to map out efficient routes and outreach strategies. Conference Presence: Represent the company at educational conferences, managing booth setups and lead generation. Expert Knowledge: Stay ahead of legislative actions, educational trends, and product updates to serve as a consultant to your clients. What We’re Looking For Educational Background: Previous experience as an educator is strongly preferred. You speak the language of our customers. Industry Familiarity: Knowledge of American Book Company resources is a significant plus. Tech Savvy: Ability to manage leads and documentation via our CRM (Sprocket) with high accuracy and a 24-hour turnaround. Road Warrior: Comfort with consistent travel throughout North Carolina. Competitive Pay: Base salary plus a commission structure. Travel Reimbursement: Mileage reimbursed at the standard federal rate. Expenses: Company credit card provided for travel-related expenses (lodging and food), with meal reimbursements following federal per diem guidelines. Training: Comprehensive initial and ongoing training covering product knowledge, sales techniques, and CRM management. Key Responsibilities Attend weekly sales meetings (typically Fridays) via voice conference or webinar. Submit all customer contact annotations and requests in the CRM within 24 hours. Participate in monthly progress meetings to review territory growth and visit metrics. Manage conference leads and follow-ups within 5-7 business days.
