Assistant Vice President of Client Onboarding

About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading global asset management firm , is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Client Onboarding to manage complex onboarding and transition events for institutional clients across global markets. This high-visibility role combines operational precision, stakeholder coordination, and market connectivity expertise-perfect for someone who thrives at the intersection of client service, investment operations, and risk management.

You'll work with custodian banks, fund administrators, transition managers, and internal teams to ensure timely, seamless, and risk-controlled onboarding of new client accounts and portfolio transitions.
What You'll Do

• Lead the end-to-end onboarding process for new client accounts, coordinating internal teams and external partners to meet deadlines and regulatory standards.
• Manage account opening documentation, market and custodian setup, and trading connectivity across multiple markets and entities.
• Oversee account record creation and validation , ensuring accurate setup in internal systems and adherence to trading restrictions.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for account setup and onboarding procedures; update control documentation and train colleagues globally.
• Collaborate with transition managers to coordinate asset-in-kind processing, portfolio carve-outs, and in-specie transfers.
• Facilitate the creation of model and legacy accounts , including asset pricing, data validation, and portfolio loading.
• Coordinate reconciliation, moratorium checks, and data ingestion of transition trade files for new and existing accounts.
• Liaise with custodians, fund administrators, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of all operational milestones.
• Partner with investment, legal, compliance, and client service teams to mitigate onboarding risks and resolve escalations.

What You Bring

• 3-10+ years of experience in client onboarding, transitions, or investment operations within an asset manager, custodian, or fund administrator.
• Strong understanding of global custody, market account setup, and trade lifecycle processes.
• Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects and external relationships under tight deadlines.
• Experience working with transition management, asset transfers, and large-scale portfolio funding events.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and project coordination skills.
• Proficiency with Excel and exposure to data management or reconciliation systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field ; PMP or similar project management certification a plus.
