Login Now New Job Search Threat Fabrication Specialist I **INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY** Job Code: 2026:0402-146 Location: Yuma Proving Ground, AZ FT/PT Status: Full Time Business Sector: Test Range Operations Job Description Performs certified quality welds with ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Assists senior welders with designs and fabrication of 2- and 3- dimensional target systems. Operates Computer Aided Design (CAD) programs and transfers drawings to Computer Controlled Cutting (CC) machines. Fabricates unique targets and replacement parts from shop drawings, blue prints, plans, sketches, and verbal instructions and performs layout, setup, cutting, fabrication, and welding. Performs cuts using horizontal band saws, chop saws, track torches, plasma, and free hand cutting. Emplaces unique fabricated 2- and 3- dimensional steel silhouette vehicle target into predetermined target locations on multiple ranges. Fabricates mock target structures representing single and multiple story buildings using shipping containers (conex boxes). Repairs target systems that require welding or metalwork. Displays a willingness to learn and expand their knowledge in welding and target fabrications. Performs other duties as required to complete the assigned mission. This position is covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Qualifications Pay Rate: $34.11 Education/Licenses/Certifications/Experience Requirements: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have an American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1 Certification in all positions using mild steel, one inch material 7018. Must have 1 year of experience as a journeyman welder. Job Skills Requirements: Must have basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office programs. Must have heavy equipment mechanic training and experience usually acquired through technical school or military training. Must have toolbox and tools required to perform welding task. Must not have any current disciplinary actions in personnel file. Must be able to travel for off-site duties up to 30% of time and remain at travel location for up to 3 weeks at a time. Physical Requirements: Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical and periodic retests. Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned. Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions including summer temperatures peaking around 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Must be able to work long and varied hours. Must be capable of frequent bending, squatting, crouching, kneeling, standing, climbing, and stooping, sometimes for long periods. Must be able to ascend and descend equipment. Must be able to visually distinguish colors. Must be capable of lifting and transporting 75 lbs. unassisted over uneven ground for 50 feet. Job Requirements: Must be able speak, write, read, and understand English. Must have a well-mannered customer service attitude. Must be willing to cross-train in other areas. Must use \"down-time\" effectively to the benefit of test, self, and company. Must be punctual, responsible, and dependable. Must demonstrate motivation, initiative, and reliability. Must be adaptable, flexible, and able to adjust to new or changing instructions. Must have a demonstrated ability to follow instructions and company policy. Must be able to deliver quality products to the customer and be responsive to their needs. Must be safety and security conscious, complying with rules and policies. Must be able to work both as part of a team and independently. Must be able to use two-way radios, email, and cellular phones for communications. Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed, sometimes on short notice, to support test missions. Must possess a valid driver's license, without special restrictions. Must have dependable transportation and a dependable means of communication. Must have demonstrated experience as highly motivated; self-directed; able to set priorities and meet deadlines; able to follow through on complex projects; and strong problem-solving skills. Additional Desirable Qualifications: Possess 3+ years of experience as a Welder. Possess a class A CDL. Possess the ability to communicate with customers, coworkers, support personnel, military, government, management, and senior officials in a professional, positive, and customer-focused manner. Terms of Employment & Eligibility Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain security clearance for the duration of employment.
