Laboratory Technician I (2nd Shift/Flex)

Job Title: Laboratory Technician (2nd Shift/Flex) Reports to: Laboratory Manager Location: San Marcos, Texas We have one goal: to manufacture quality magnets! About This Role Noveon is seeking a Lab Engineer to expand our product development group, working closely with our advisory engineers. You will work with state‑of‑the‑art analytical and material characterization equipment, support the R&D activities, help resolve technical project requests, and support new product development and product release. A successful candidate will get hands‑on experience in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment and demonstrate drive and innovation. You will be supporting the R&D, QC, and QA activities. What You’ll Be Doing Perform routine and non‑routine tests and analyses using appropriate technical equipment and instruments. Receive, collect, and process samples. Maintain calibration of laboratory equipment. Perform preventive maintenance on testing equipment. Prepare samples for metallography and compositional analysis. Maintain equipment in proper working order and keep a clean work area. Practice safe work habits, including compliance with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations. Manage inventory related to chemicals and analytical supplies. Develop and maintain inspection reports. Perform other duties as assigned. We Are Looking For Someone Who Has, or is working toward, an associate or bachelor’s degree in a scientific field (chemistry, metallurgy, or materials sciences). Has 0–2 years of laboratory experience (magnet testing experience highly preferred). Can learn new laboratory approaches and techniques for inorganic materials characterization. Has a strong understanding of instrumental analysis, testing techniques, and quality control standards. Possesses knowledge of characterization techniques. Is knowledgeable of computer skills: Microsoft Office and other relevant computer programs. Analytical and numerical skills: can perform mathematical calculations in different units of measurement and use concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios. Can write correspondence and reports. Can perform physically demanding work such as moving and lifting equipment, standing for long periods of time, etc. Has excellent organizational and communication skills and demonstrates ability to analyze and interpret information. Physical Requirements Able to move up to 50 lbs. Possesses manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately. Can wear PPE. Comfortable standing for long periods of time, up to and exceeding 60 minutes. Capable of making repetitive movements, including sitting, squatting, walking up and down stairs.
