Director, Global Payroll

We are seeking a Director, Global Payroll to lead the strategy, governance, and execution of payroll operations across our global workforce. Reporting to the Head of Accounting, this role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across multiple regions while driving process optimization, vendor management, and payroll technology initiatives. The Director, Global Payroll will partner closely with Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Legal, and external payroll providers to ensure payroll operations support our business objectives and employee experience. This leader will oversee global payroll compliance, controls, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts in a complex, multinational environment. This role will also oversee a globally distributed payroll team. Key Responsibilities Global Payroll Leadership Lead end-to-end payroll operations for employees across North America, LATAM, AIPAC, and EMENA Develop and execute a global payroll strategy that supports organizational growth, compliance, and operational excellence. Establish governance frameworks, policies, procedures, and service standards for payroll operations. Serve as the primary escalation point for complex payroll issues and regulatory matters. Payroll Operations & Compliance Ensure accurate and timely processing of payrolls in compliance with local laws, tax regulations, wage and hour requirements, and company policies. Maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness across all payroll processes. Partner with Finance and Accounting on payroll reconciliations, accruals, reporting, and month-end activities. Monitor legislative and regulatory changes impacting payroll operations globally. Oversee payroll audits and support internal and external audit requests. Manage relationships with global payroll providers, consultants, and third-party vendors. Establish performance metrics and service-level agreements to ensure high-quality service delivery. Collaborate with HR, Benefits, Compensation, Equity, Tax, and Legal teams to ensure seamless payroll administration. Support mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and global expansion initiatives from a payroll perspective. Payroll Systems & Process Improvement Drive payroll system enhancements, integrations, and transformation initiatives. Partner with HRIS and technology teams to improve data integrity and automation. Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce risk, and improve operational efficiency. Lead payroll-related projects, including system implementations, vendor transitions, and process redesign efforts. Leadership & Team Development Build, lead, and develop a high-performing global payroll team. Foster a culture of accountability, customer service, compliance, and continuous improvement. Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities for team members. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. 10+ years of progressive payroll experience, including significant multinational payroll leadership experience. 5+ years of people leadership experience managing global or regional payroll teams. Deep knowledge of global payroll practices, tax regulations, statutory requirements, and compliance obligations. Experience managing multiple-country payroll operations through internal teams and outsourced providers. Strong understanding of payroll accounting, controls, and audit requirements. Demonstrated success leading payroll transformation, automation, or system implementation initiatives. Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent certification. Experience with UKG or similar enterprise payroll platforms. Experience supporting payroll operations across North America, EMEA, APAC, and Latin America.
