Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist - Rotating Shift

Job Description

The MRI Technologist independently performs imaging procedures and conducts a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative for diagnostic purposes.

Responsibilities

• Practice and maintain MR safety in the department.
• Maintain clinical competency for all exams and equipment.
• Perform procedures for reviewing, processing, and archiving images.
• Read and present all relevant information to the physician based on protocol prior to the start of the exam.
• Identify all patients properly using two patient identifiers and utilize universal protocol when performing procedures.
• Review patient history and assess physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols.
• Document patient history in electronic record as required.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with patients and colleagues.
• Work as a team member within the department and other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.
• Communicate instructions clearly to patients and explain procedures to alleviate their fears.
• Ensure proper coding, tracking, and documentation of all exams conducted.
• Perform additional duties as assigned and in accordance with system-wide competencies.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited CNMT, ARMRIT, or ARDMS program with MR registry.
• MR registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was acquired or date of hire if primary registry is already obtained.
• CNMT, ARDMS, and ARMRIT graduates must obtain MR registry within 12 months of hire date.
• 2 years of experience is required.
• ARRT Certificate or equivalent certification (ARMRIT, NMTC, ARDMS).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Compliance with PA Act 31, 33, 34, and 73.
