RN - Hospice & Palliative Care Nurse

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in hospice and palliative care to join a supportive healthcare team in the Midwest region. This part-time role focuses on delivering exceptional end-of-life care, prioritizing patient dignity, comfort, and quality of life within home or hospice settings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive assessments addressing patients' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
• Conduct initial physical evaluations and develop individualized care plans collaboratively with the healthcare team.
• Administer medications and manage symptoms following established protocols.
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and families regarding end-of-life care options.
• Coordinate services and resources to assist patients and families throughout the hospice journey.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and communicate changes in condition to the interdisciplinary group.
• Perform venipuncture or collect lab specimens as ordered by physicians.
• Ensure timely communication with pharmacies and primary providers regarding medications and supplies.

Education and Licensure:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current Registered Nurse licensure valid for practice in the relevant state.
• Completion of hospice and philosophy training is required.

Experience and Certifications:

• Previous experience in hospice, palliative, or critical care settings is preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification in accordance with American Heart Association standards.
• Completion of Mandatory Reporter training within six months of hire.

Skills and Requirements:

• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communication.
• Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
• Adherence to all federal, state, and professional licensure and regulatory training requirements.
