Overview Job Title: Nurse 1 (Registered Nurse) – ID 20019068 (260003ZJ) Location: Lebanon Correctional Institute, Lebanon, Ohio Compensation: $78,000 per year (based on location/shift assignments) Schedule: Full‑time Union: 1199 Key Responsibilities Administer medications (oral, intramuscular, intravenous) and monitor patient compliance. Perform treatments and assist with nurse and doctor sick calls. Manage chronic care clinics and assist with nursing management. Respond to emergencies, providing emergency care and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Perform subjective and objective assessments of patients. Collect vital signs and document findings promptly. Collect urine and/or other bodily fluid specimens. Prepare patients for release or transfer, reviewing care, transfer, and release summaries. Ensure discharge medication orders are completed and forwarded to pharmacy services. Participate in work‑related training and institutional exercises. Assist other healthcare staff and investigate problem areas. Review shift reports from preceding shifts. Assist physicians with medical procedures. Assume duties of other nurses during absences. Counsel patients on healthcare maintenance and disease prevention. Participate in quality‑assurance activities. Provide training and direction to new nurses, agency nurses, licensed practical nurses, and hospital aides. Serve as a resource person for other healthcare and security staff regarding health matters. Provide orientation and training for new healthcare personnel under the Nursing Supervisor. Act as the lead clinical authority on site in the absence of HCA, QIC, medical director, or advanced‑level provider staff. Participate in group programming and health and wellness initiatives. Perform administrative duties as indicated. Schedule multidisciplinary team meetings. Assume the duties of shift charge as assigned by the HCA, making shift work assignments and adjustments as necessary. Assist with inventory and ordering of medical supplies. Assist ancillary staff to ensure patient‑care needs are met. Qualifications Current licensure as a registered professional nurse in Ohio issued by the Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of the Ohio Revised Code. Proficiency in nursing, urgent and emergency care, basic medical procedures, medical charting, direct support/care, problem solving, critical thinking, decision making, teamwork, and cultural awareness.
