Design Project Manager (Data Centers)

\n

\n

Location: Charlotte, NC · Type: Full-time

\n

\n

On behalf of a data center developer, we are hiring a Design Project Manager to lead design delivery on a large-scale hyperscale data center campus in Charlotte. You are the owner's lead on design: the person who keeps the A/E team, the general contractor and the hyperscale end client aligned from concept through construction.

\n

\n

What you will do

\n

· Lead and coordinate the A/E design team from concept through Issued for Construction documents, against the program schedule and budget.

\n

· Act as the main design interface between the developer, the general contractor and the hyperscale end client.

\n

· Manage end-client requirements and design standards, and drive alignment where they conflict with the developer's basis of design.

\n

· Coordinate integration across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, controls and fire/life safety disciplines.

\n

· Run design reviews, track deliverables and manage design changes, including their cost, schedule and procurement impact.

\n

· Resolve design-related RFIs and field issues during construction, working with the owner's site representatives.

\n

· Report design status, risks and decisions to developer leadership.

\n

\n

What you bring

\n

· 15+ years in design management, project management or owner's representation on large, complex construction programs.

\n

· Data center or mission-critical experience strongly preferred. Candidates from other $1B+ programs (semiconductor, pharma/life sciences, healthcare, heavy industrial) will be considered.

\n

· Proven record managing multiple stakeholders with competing priorities: owner, design team, contractor and end user.

\n

· Working knowledge of MEP systems and how design decisions affect procurement and construction.

\n

· Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to senior client stakeholders.

\n

· Degree in engineering, architecture or construction management preferred.
